Rain Pushes Completion of Friday’s Event to Sunday Afternoon
Grandstands open 11 a.m., hot laps 12:30 p.m.; Saturday program unchanged
BARBERVILLE, Fla. — Feb. 17, 2012 — Just when it appeared Volusia Speedway Park would be in the clear, more rain began to fall late Friday night, forcing officials to postpone the remainder of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season opener and the DIRTcar UMP Modified program to Sunday afternoon, creating a huge day of action at the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment.
With qualifying already completed for the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and two more groups of qualifying for UMP Modifieds, the event will pick up on Sunday afternoon before the regularly scheduled full evening program. The pits will open at 10 a.m., grandstands at 11 a.m. followed by racing. Dale Blaney led World of Outlaws time trials.
Friday night’s tickets will be good for Sunday afternoon’s continuation of the postponed event.
Saturday’s event remains as scheduled, with grandstands opening at 5 p.m., hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m. for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and the DIRTcar UMP Modified Gator Championship first qualifying night.
