DIRTcar Stock Car/Street Stock Fall Nationals At Charleston Speedway This Saturday, October 6

Jeremy Nichols in the driver’s seat to win the 2018 National Title

CONCORD, NC — Oct. 3, 2018 — With the final weekend of DIRTcar Racing National points approaching and national champions getting crowned in Pevely, MO as well as Oswego, NY, the DIRTcar Stock Cars (Street Stocks) will get their own time to shine in the spotlight. This Saturday, October 6, Charleston Speedway (IL), located south of Champagne in Charleston, IL hosts the DIRTcar Street Stock Fall Nationals / Midwest Street Stock Championship. A $1,500 payday is on the line for the grassroots competitors as they head to the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile semi-banked dirt oval in Eastern Illinois.

Heading into the weekend, Jeremy Nichols is in line for his first career DIRTcar National title after finishing the 2017 season in the runner-up spot in the country. The 37-year-old from Lovington, IL has recorded an impressive 18 feature wins at seven different tracks during the 2018 racing season. He’s already secured the 2018 Big 10 Series Street Stocks title as well as the 2018 Lincoln Speedway (IL) Track Championship.

Nichols is also is second in the 2018 Midwest Street Stock Championship Series points standings, just 16 markers behind defending MSSC Series champion and former three-time DIRTcar National Champion, Jerrad Krick, the most recent feature winner at Charleston back on September 29, and second in the DIRTcar Southern Regional standings. Five of Nichols’ feature victories have come in the MSSC Series.

Robert Cottom sits second in the standings ahead of Jason Maier, the current DIRTcar Northern Regional points leader, who is third in the nation over younger brother and 2018 Farmer City Raceway (IL) Track Champion, Matt Maier. J. Maier also has three feature wins this season at Charleston while M. Maier has recorded two triumphs. DIRTcar Southern Regional points leader, Terry Reed Jr., and Krick, who has two checkered flags at Charleston, are fifth and sixth and separated by just two markers.
