Joey Ladouceur Grabs Win in Dominant Fashion at Mohawk

HOGANSBURG, N. Y. – September 16, 2012 – Martin Bélanger, DIRTcar Correspondent – Cool temperatures greeted DIRTcar Pro-Stock Series drivers at Mohawk International Raceway but Joey Ladouceur was hot on the speedway as he went to win in a dominant fashion to extend his lead in the series.

Mohawk local runners Owen White and Jody Swamp shared the top row on the initial start in the 50-lap DIRTcar Pro-Stock feature. White took the top spot as Bruno Cyr slipped to second with Swamp in third. Cyr used the inside lane to grab the lead as DIRTcar series contenders Rob Yetman and Joey Ladouceur were already in the top 5 as Ladouceur grabbed fourth with 4 laps in the books.

Ladouceur made his way into the top 3 in lap 9 and, after the first caution brought the field together, Ladouceur got a good restart and passed Cyr for the lead as Rob Yetman jumped to third. Alan Peters was having a great run after starting 14th; he cracked the top 5 and rapidly made his way to third on lap 20.

At the halfway point, Ladouceur had a 3.5-second lead as Cyr was trying to contain a hard-charging Peters. Swamp and Yetman completed the top 5.

Jody Swamp found some grip on the top side as he passed Swamp and Cyr and took second with 18 laps to go in the feature while Ladouceur had built himself a half-track lead. Cyr used lapped traffic to his advantage and regained second on lap 36.

With 10 laps to go, Ladouceur continued to stretch his lead as a good battle was happening for third between Swamp and Peters and Ryan Stabler joined the top 5.

Stabler moved to third with only two laps to go as Joey Ladouceur reached the finish line in first, winning his second consecutive DIRTcar Pro Stock Series event. Stabler made his way to second and Swamp beat Cyr to the photo finish for the third place on the podium.

A happy Ladouceur in the winner’s circle said he was “real happy with the win, this was not an easy one!” Ladouceur now heads to Super DIRT Week XLI trying to win the “big one.”

“We have our longtime sponsors that are stepping up to the plate again for us in our Syracuse program and we will try to win it this year,” noted Ladouceur.

Up next for the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series is the BACC-OFF Pro Stock Championship on Sunday, October 7, as the best Pro-Stock drivers in the northeast will head to the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse and try to win this coveted event
