Click to see the Victory Lane Interview: Meyers Goes 4 for 4

Clovis, Calif. native continues winning streak into Super DIRT Week XL

ELBRIDGE, N.Y. — Oct. 8, 2011 — Jason Meyers continues to be unbeatable on the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series circuit. The 2010 series champion picked up his fourth win in a row in high style. As he led all 25 laps in the STP Shootout at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, N.Y. to claim his 8th victory on the season. Since the Outlaws left Deer Creek Speedway on Saturday, September 17, Meyers and his Elite Racing team haven’t finished lower than 3rd.

“I’m really beginning to run out of things to say,” said Meyers with a grin. “Everyone on this DDNi/Media-Tile/GLR Investments/All-Star Performance team is working their tails off and that’s why we have been in victory lane four times in a row. Everyone dug in deep and didn’t give up when we had some earlier season struggles. Driveability in the car and the motor were key tonight since the track got a little slick later on. Charlie Garrett has really come up with an awesome engine package that allows for a lot of driveability with tons of speed and power. We said a few races back that all we were focusing on was wins and that’s seemed to work very well for us here lately. ”

Meyers started the event on the pole after he won his series leading 7th Dash. Ian Madsen, filling in for Bill Rose in the #6R, jumped out to an early lead but a red flag for a crash involving Tony Stewart Racing teammates, Donny Schatz and Steve Kinser, reset the field to their original line up. When the green flag flew again, Meyers powered past Madsen and never looked back. As Meyers approached lap traffic, it appeared that the #7 Big Game Treestands Maxim of Craig Dollansky might have been able to end Meyers streak.

“Those guys are running really good right now so to finish second to them is an achievement in of itself,” said Dollansky, who was the night’s fastest qualifier. ”We’re trying to get out there and pick up another win before the season is out and we came close tonight. We timed in pretty well and raced pretty good. I can’t thank Big Game Treestands, Aggressive Hydraulics, Aeroquip and Karavan Trailers enough for supporting us out here.”

Charging through the field to finish third was 2010 Knoxville Nationals Champion Tim Shaffer, who started 8th in the 25 lap feature.

“Our car wasn’t quite where we wanted it earlier in the night,” said Shaffer. ”However, once we got going in the A (main) it really seemed to come to life and we could pass some cars. Kistler Engines and J&J Chassis’s were great to us again and my crew deserves quite a bit of credit for this.”

Madsen would settle for the fourth position as his brother, Kerry, rounded out the top-5

The Outlaws will take on Fremont (Ohio) Speedway for the first time since 1993 on Saturday, October 15 as they continue their march to the World Finals at the Dirt Track at Charlotte.

ROLLING WHEELS RACEWAY PARK NOTEBOOK

WINNERS – There have been 61 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series A-Feature events in 2011.
