Weedsport, NY — June 22, 2010 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director

With Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series races on tap this week for all but 358-Modified point chasers, the standings remain intact with past overall titlists Billy Decker (Big-Block), Brett Hearn (358) and Joey Ladouceur (Pro Stock), along with second-generation Sportsman pilot Ryan Susice leading the way.

Super DIRTcar Series opening day Hagerstown winner and two-time Big-Block Modified Champion Decker swapped the top spot with Matt Sheppard after the Grandview/Orange County doubleheader, while Hearn and Ladouceur won their respective lid-lifters in May to set the early pace. A pair of front-five tallies has elevated Susice to the top of the chart with two-time reigning Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman points king Chris Raabe dropping to sixth in the early going.

Plenty of action during the week yet no lead changes when spring finally came to a close as the DIRTcar Northeast point battles raged on in open-wheel racing.

Copping the mid-week ‘Big Show 2’ at Orange County before sweeping weekend stops at Brewerton and Fulton, touring star Jimmy Phelps maintained his advantage over Super DIRTcar Series stalwarts ‘Super Matt’ Sheppard and Decker in DIRTcar Northeast’s Central chase. In the East, Craig Hanson is hanging on to a slim 3-point margin ahead of Bobby Varin while Jeremiah Shingledecker remains solid in front of Western Region rival Dave Murdick.

Continuing his season-long supremacy without taking a checkered flag, Tim O’Brien heads the 358-Modified Northern Region standings ahead of rookie sensation Matt Billings. For the second straight week, Small-Block veteran Pete Bicknell ranks first in front of long-time pace-setter Chad Brachmann out West.

Raabe enjoys a comfortable position atop the Sportsman Northern division standings, already maxing out with win number 12 (60 pts. each) just two months into the 2010 campaign. Susice is still in charge along the Western corridor as is another Mr. DIRTcar title contender, Steve Gray (central), and D.J. Brundige (eastern) as the end of June quickly approaches.
