(Points drop by one (1) point for positions twenty-six (26) to forty (40) if more than twenty-five (25) starters are approved)
A. Drivers not in an A-Main Feature, where a B-Feature is run, will receive finish points starting with the first non-transfer. Points will drop one (1) point per position to a minimum of ten (10) points. Any driver participating in the event will receive a minimum of ten (10) finish points.
B. Drivers not in an A-Main Feature will receive 10 finish points.
C. The 2026 point season will begin on January 1, 2026.
D. Only a driver’s highest finish points race will be counted each week for events from January 1, 2026, to March 29, 2026.
E. All races will count towards accumulated points starting March 30, 2026 going through September 27, 2026.
F. The 2026 point season will conclude following all events originally scheduled on or before September 27, 2026. The exception is an A-Feature that is postponed due to weather, which must be completed within fourteen (14) days from the original race date, but may not be held during or after the National Championship event(s).
G. Western region(s) or state points may continue past September 27, 2026, but only for regional/state points and events must be completed by November 14, 2026, and points will include championship events.
H. For any event to award points, a sanction agreement must be in place. Added events must be approved ten (10) days prior to the event.
Bonus Points
A. Bonus points of one (1) point for every car over twenty-five (25) entered in the event will be awarded at each race. The maximum bonus points awarded is five (5) points per race.
Event Points
A. Event points are described as the combined total of finish points and bonus points for a given race.
B. All races must have ten (10) or more cars entered in order to receive full points. If a race has nine (9) or fewer cars, their points will be reduced by ten percent (10%) for each car missing.
C. Tracks may be allowed to run more than one (1) feature event per night for any division. Each feature must pay at least the same purse as a weekly show and each feature will be required to pay an additional sanction fee. “Double” features must be approved in advance.
Replacement Races
A. A driver may begin replacing event points after the driver has completed the minimum number of races.
B. Replacement races start with a driver’s lowest event points race.
C. A driver will never lose points with a replacement
D. Minimum number of races before event points may be replaced: 20
Section 1 – Engines
A. Engine
a. The Chevrolet Performance Parts 602 engines {GM Part Numbers 19258602 – 88958602 – 19435602) will be the only engines permitted in all DIRTcar Pro-Modified events. Engines must be purchased through current authorized Chevrolet Performance vendor. The engine and all components must remain in their original configuration and form as purchased and/or delivered by an authorized Chevrolet Performance dealer. Any alterations to the engine will not be permitted. The engine must remain as manufactured by General Motors. Chevrolet Performance Parts 602 engines may have part number changes from time-to-time as issued by the manufacturer. All engines must retain all GM Factory seals. Tampering, removal, or modifications of any type and/or broken factory seals will not be permitted.
b. In addition, DIRTcar and/or World Racing Group will require secondary sealing and verification of all seals on any new or repaired Chevrolet Performance engine by an approved Verification Facility. Tampering with and/or alteration of any seals will not be permitted and is subject to immediate penalty and/or suspension. Red DIRTcar cable seals and one (1) green Pace Performance QR coded seal must be installed and remain on all new or verified engines. Only Chevrolet Performance replacement parts of any type will be permitted for any type of replacement and or repair work. Only Chevrolet Performance Engine specific valve springs may be used for replacement or repair. Part numbers 10212811 or 19154761 must be used. Approved repairs are permitted. DIRTcar must authorize Chevrolet Performance 602 engine repairs and repairs must be completed by an approved verification/repair facility.

ii. Verification fees:

h. One (1) four (4) barrel 650 cfm unaltered Holley carburetor (the only alteration allowed to this carburetor is to make it E-85 compatible), Part Number 4777 or 80777 or Holley HP Carburetor Part Number 80541-1, (-2), and (-3) will be permitted. One (1) two (2) barrel unaltered 500 cfm Holley carburetor Part 4412 will be permitted (the only alteration allowed to this carburetor is to make it E-85 compatible). All carburetor components must remain unaltered (except to allow for E-85). Any changes will result in disqualification from the event. Any alterations to the carburetor will not be permitted (except to allow for E-85).
i. A maximum of one spacer measuring 1.120 inches between the bottom of the base plate and the top of the intake manifold, including gaskets, will be permitted. The spacer must remain 1.120 inches across the entire plain of the spacer.
j. The spacer must not extend into the intake manifold.
k. All engines and all components must remain in their original configuration and form as purchased and/or delivered from the factory. Any changes will result in disqualification from the event. Any alterations to the engine will not be permitted.
l. Any part that is sealed from the factory that has been tampered with and/or removed will result in an immediate penalty.
m. Any issued penalty may include and will not be limited to a suspension of the car, driver, car owner, engine builder from participation in any World Racing Group event.
n. Any participant (driver, car owner and/or engine builder) that is found to have tampered with the engine will lose all points accumulated for the season, all earnings and the parts will be impounded for competitive analysis. In addition, the participant may be suspended indefinitely from all World Racing Group events.
o. Changes and/or alteration to the engine, intake manifold, cylinder heads, valve coverts, valve components, front cover, oil pan, harmonic balancer and/or any parts on or in the engine will not be permitted.
B. Engine Inspection and/or Engine Exchange
a. World Racing Group and/or DIRTcar Officials reserve the right to exchange or impound any engine at any time for competitive analysis and for inspection. Failure to allow the engine to be retained for the impound procedure will result in disqualification from the event and possible further penalties. The engine that has been impounded and/or exchanged will retain all components as the engine was received from the factory or on the factory sale list.

C. Chevrolet Performance 602 Engine Distributor / Ignition
a. All Chevrolet Performance 602 engines must use GM factory HEI ignition system with stock appearing GM module and coil.
b. HEI ignition system must be equipped with an approved, unaltered operational MSD #8727 CT Digital Soft Touch HEI Rev Control Limiter.
c. The MSD #8727 CT Rev Control Limiter must be programmed to limit engine RPM to a maximum of 6200.
d. The MSD #8727 CT Rev Control Limiter ground wire must not exceed more than 8 inches in length.
e. The unit must be mounted under the access panel above the driver foot box.
f. The entirety of the ignition system/distributor/rev control box wiring must be easily accessible for inspection by tech officials.
g. Series retains the right to change and/or confiscate MSD #8727 CT Digital Soft Touch HEI Rev Control Limiter for technical analysis without notice.
h. MSD boxes and/or any other ignition amplifier boxes of any type are prohibited.
D. Optional Open Engine
A cast iron block and head open engine meeting the following requirements will be optional for the 2026 racing season. Optional open engine rules may be amended at any time throughout the season.
a. Only OEM production cast iron blocks permitted. Aftermarket blocks prohibited. Chevy, Ford and Mopar engines may be used. Maximum allowable bore on all open engines is 4.060.
b. The only allowable crankshaft strokes are as follows: Chevrolet 3.480, Ford 3.500, Mopar 3.580.
c. Crankshaft must retain OEM rod journal diameter. Journals may be ground up to .030 undersize from the following OEM specifications. Chevy – 2.100, Ford – 2.311, Mopar – 2.125.
d. Light weight crankshafts prohibited. The only allowable grinding, machining, drilling of crankshafts is that necessary for balancing purposes.
e. Cubic inch limits are as follows: Chevrolet 361, Ford 363, Mopar 371
f. Engine displacement will be checked with P&G pump or via physical teardown at the discretion of DIRTcar tech officials.
g. Cast-iron cylinder heads are permitted. OEM and aftermarket cylinder heads are permitted. Cylinder heads must remain as cast from the manufacturer. Modifications to the runners, bowls, or chambers are prohibited. CNC machined runners, bowls, and chambers are prohibited. OEM production valve angles must be maintained. Angle milling of block or head is prohibited.
h. Titanium parts of any kind are prohibited.
i. Shaft rocker arms prohibited except for OEM type rocker arms on Mopar engines only.
j. Solid or hydraulic flat tappet camshaft and lifters required. Roller camshafts and lifters prohibited.
k. OEM and aftermarket cast iron and aluminum intake manifolds permitted. Intake manifold must be used as cast from the manufacturer. Modifications to the intake manifold are prohibited.
E. Optional Open Engine Carburetion
a. The required carburetor will be one, gauge legal Holley 4412 500 CFM 2-barrel unaltered carburetor. The only modifications permitted include removal of the choke plate and choke shaft or those required to make the carburetor E85 compatible. Carburetor must pass DIRTcar official go/no go gauges for venturi size, booster size, booster height, base plate bore size and throttle shaft. Tuning adjustment of jets, PV, PV channels, emulsion holes, air bleeds, floats and accelerator pumps are non tech items. DIRTcar reserves the right for carburetors to be claimed for analysis and/or inspection.
b. XP Carburetors prohibited.
c. Gaskets must be standard for application. Gaskets that are exceed a standard OEM thickness for a carburetor/spacer-type application will not be permitted.
d. An approved carburetor roll-over plate that prevents fuel spillage in case of a roll over is highly recommended. Currently approved roll over plates are as follows:

F. Optional Open engine Distributor / Ignition
a. All optional open engines must use GM style HEI ignition system with stock appearing GM module and coil.

c. The MSD #8727 CT Rev Control Limiter must be programmed to limit engine RPM to a maximum of 6500. RPM limits may be amended throughout the season.

e. The unit must be mounted under the access panel above the driver foot box.
f. The entirety of the ignition system/distributor/rev control box wiring must be easily accessible for inspection by tech officials.
g. Series retains the right to change and/or confiscate MSD #8727 CT Digital Soft Touch HEI Rev Control Limiter for technical analysis without notice.
h. MSD boxes and/or any other ignition amplifier boxes of any type are prohibited.
Section 2 – Transmission, Driveline, and Driveline Components
A. The drive shaft must be made from magnetic steel or approved carbon fiber. The driveshaft must be painted white with the car number clearly labeled.
B. Aluminum, fiberglass, or carbon fiber drive shafts will not be permitted.
C. A 1/2″-inch x 2″-inch 18-gauge steel drive shaft hoop is mandatory. The drive shaft hoop must be at least six (6″) inches behind the universal-joint. Two hoops are strongly recommended.
D. All competitors are encouraged to perform systematic checks on their drive-train.
E. Direct drives and/or any type devices will not be permitted.
F. Only OEM Production transmissions will be permitted. The transmission must be bolted to the engine in the stock location. All cars must have forward and working reverse gears and be able to shift to forward or reverse with engine running.
G. One steel or aluminum OEM style/size flywheel or steel OEM style/size flex plate allowed, bolted directly to end of crankshaft will be permitted.
H. Automatic Transmission will be permitted. The automatic transmission must remain unaltered and it may be two or three speed, the automatic transmission must utilize an OEM production case with a functioning OEM appearing pump or replaced with aftermarket explosion-proof aluminum bellhousing. Only external lines allowed are for transmission cooler. Only splined drive flange coupler or torque converter, 10″-inch minimum diameter will be permitted.
I. Manual: The manual transmission must remain unaltered; Three or four speed manual transmissions will be permitted. The manual transmission must utilize an OEM production case and have a working 7.25-inch minimum diameter, steel and/or aluminum, single or multi-disc clutch and pressure plate bolted directly to flywheel/flex plate. These components must rotate, consistent with engine rpm, while the car is in any gear.
J. BERT type transmission: A BERT Generation 1 or Brin Original Type Transmission will be permitted. The BERT Type Transmission must utilize a stock OEM mounted starting system and standard flex plate assembly, with scatter shield. Second generation or 2.0 versions of aftermarket transmissions are permitted.
K. Clutch-type transmissions must be equipped with explosion-proof steel bell housing. In lieu of an explosion-proof bell housing or if one is not available for your engine, a shield of at least 1/2″-inch x 6″-inches covering the clutch area 360 degrees securely fastened in place and fabricated from magnetic steel will be permitted.
L. The steering box must be O.E.M appearing. CNC machined steering components are not permitted. Any-type rack and pinion style steering is not permitted. The original bolt pattern that matches frame type must be used. In the cockpit, steering may be modified to suit the driver but must remain on the left side of the vehicle. Moving the steering mechanisms to the center of the vehicle will not be permitted.
Section 3 – Fuel, Fuel Cells, and Fuel System
A. All cars must have fuel cells. The maximum capacity for the fuel cell will be 22 gallons. The fuel cell must be completely enclosed in an 18-gauge magnetic steel container. Aluminum fuel cell containers will not be permitted. All fuel cells must be completely visible. All fuel cells must have a minimum of 2″x2″ inch x 1/8″-inch steel straps surrounding them. The fuel cell must be protected in the rear of axle by securely-mounted (welded) roll cage tubing. All fuel cells must have check valve in breather and filler check valve.
B. The fuel cell must not extend lower than protective tubing.
C. Only leaded and/or unleaded gasoline will be permitted for competition. Standard pump gasoline is recommended. Racing gasoline will be permitted.
D. Alcohol, Methanol, Nitrous oxide, nitrous methane, propylene oxide or any type of additives will not be permitted.
E. Mechanical fuel pumps mounted in the OEM location on the block required.
Section 4 – Electrical Systems, Batteries, and Electrical Accessories
A. The battery must be securely mounted and shielded.
B. The battery must not be mounted inside the driver’s cockpit.
C. One 12-volt battery only.
D. Starter must be mounted in the OEM location on the engine block.
Section 5 – Exhaust, Muffler, and Sound Reduction Devices
A. The exhaust system(s) must be mounted with the exhaust directed away from the vehicle and away from the ground.
a. The exhaust system(s) must remain completely below the interior deck of the car. The entire exhaust system (including the exhaust pipe and/or header exits) must be inside all parts of the body.
b. The only breach of any interior or exterior body panel that will be permitted is for routing the left side header or exhaust pipe on the left side of the car.
c. When routing the left side header or exhaust pipe through the left side firewall a maximum of 1/2″ inch clearance around the header or exhaust pipe will be permitted.
B. Standard design headers and collectors only may be used.
C. Tri-Y, Square Tube or other exotic exhaust systems will not be permitted.
Section 6 – Chassis and Frames
A. Only factory production full 1950 or newer parallel American passenger car frames will be permitted. The frame must be complete in front of firewall. Cutting of the frame in any way in front of firewall will not be permitted. Engine location follows UMP Modified Specification
B. The frame must remain unaltered and must meet the requirements of the drawing {as shown in rulebook).
C. The right side frame rail may not be altered and/or raised and/or moved from the stock OEM location in any manner and must measure a maximum of six {6) inches from the ground to the bottom or lowest edge of the frame rail.
D. The front cross member may be notched to allow clearance for the radiator only. The cross members must be plated to retain complete box configuration.
E. Jeep, Bronco, 4-wheel drive, front wheel drive or sports car frames will not be permitted.
F. The minimum wheelbase permitted will be 108″ inches. The maximum wheelbase permitted will be 112″ inches.
G. The rear of the frame may be altered to accept leaf or coil springs. Any coil spring must be a minimum of 5″ diameter.
H. Fiberglass lift bars and/or rear torsion bars will not be permitted.
I. Any frame may not be widened or narrowed and must be able to support the roll cage on both sides and must be full and complete on both sides.
J. The minimum frame and body height from ground is 4″ (inches). This includes the doors, quarter panels, and the nose.
K. The front bumper must be mounted to the ends of the frame with the bottom loop parallel to the ground.
2027: Front Bumper
a. Center of bumpers (front and rear) must be a minimum 16″ (inches) and a maximum 20″ (inches) from the ground.
b. Front bumper may be a maximum width of forty-six (46) inches from outside to outside.
c. Bumper may be no farther forward than forty-two (42) inches as measured from the center of the lower ball joints.
d. Any part of the nose may not extend outside of front bumper (with the exception of the plastic valence).
L. A minimum of 1 1/4″ diameter tubing and/or pipe is required to for towing of the vehicle.
M. The rear bumpers must be constructed of tubing and/or flat stock. The rear bumpers must protect the fuel cell.
N. The bumper(s) (front and rear) when measure from their center(s) must have a minimum of 25″ inches of ground clearance. There will be a two (2) inch tolerance, plus or minus regarding this dimension. The rear bumper and/or the nerf bars must not extend beyond the width of rear tires. All bumpers must have round edges. Sharp edges on any bumper and/or bumper surface will not be permitted.
O. The brace bars forward of the roll cage must not extend higher than stock hood height.
P. The rear push bars must not extend beyond six (6″) inches of the rear quarter panel(s).
Q. All side bars and bumpers must be capped on ends.
R. The maximum overall width of the car, front and/or rear, shall not exceed 78″ inches when measured from the outside of the tire tread on both sides of the vehicle. A maximum one (1″) inch spacer between the hub and wheel will be permitted. Steel and/or aluminum spacers will be permitted, provided the overall width of the vehicle does not exceed 78″-inches.
S. All cars must have a roll cage. The roll cage must be approved prior to competition and it must be welded to the frame. The driver’s head must not protrude above the top of the roll cage with the driver’s helmet on. The top of the roll cage must extend above the top of the driver’s helmet by a minimum of one (1) inch. The entire roll cage and all roll bar pieces must be fabricated from magnetic steel a minimum of .095″ in thickness.
T. The driver side door bars must be parallel to the ground and located perpendicular to the driver. The side bars must be welded to the front and rear of the roll cage. No brazing or soldering is permitted. The door bars must have a minimum thickness of .095” and must have a minimum of 1-1/2″ diameter. On the driver’s side there will be a minimum of three (3) door bars.
U. Foot protection is mandatory. One piece of magnetic steel tubing, a minimum .095″ in thickness, must be fastened and/or welded across the back of the engine with vertical tubing a minimum of .095″ thick.
V. The door side roll bars are mandatory and must extend into the door panels.
W. The roll cage must consist of continuous hoops that are no less than 1-1/2″ in diameter and must a minimum thickness of .095″.
X. The roll cage must be mounted securely (welded) to the frame in a minimum of 6 (six) places.
Y. The roll cage must consist of a configuration of front and rear hoops connected by tubing on the sides and/or side hoops. Roll cage must be securely supported and braced. Gussets to brace any portion of the roll cage will be permitted.
Section 7 – Weight
A. All added weight(s) must be painted white or with High Visibility paint that can be seen with the car number clearly labeled on each weight.
B. All added weight(s) must be securely mounted to car with minimum of two (2) 1/2″-inch bolts that pass completely through each weight and the car. Weights that are mounted on the rear bumper or outside the body of the car will not be permitted. All added weight must be mounted below all windows and the interior sheet metal and must be on frames or cage (no Suspension Parts)
C. Any car that loses any weight(s) during any event may be fined up to $500.00.
D. The minimum weight of car with driver at all times including after the race is 2,400 lbs.
E. All weight determinations will be measured on the scales selected by the local track officials and/or by DIRTcar Officials for each racing event. There will be no weight tolerance after the completion of any racing event.
Section 8 – Body
A. General Body
a. All bodies must follow dimension(s) and the appearance as shown in the diagram. The body shall be the fabricated modified body from approved vendors. The body must be symmetrical, including but not limited to doors, nose, sail panels, spoiler supports, etc.
b. The front windshield and rear window support must be stock appearing. The front window support(s) may have a clear Lexan support of no more than 16” (inches) including the roof post at the bottom and going straight to the roof. The support must be securely fastened in a positive manner.
c. The sides of the engine compartment must remain open. Any side panels in the engine compartment and/or radiator area will not be permitted on the left side of the car. A maximum of one (1) stone deflector, mounted only on the right side of the car, for rear mounted oil pumps, oil filters, and for the main oil tank will be permitted. The deflector may be made of steel, aluminum, or heavy gauge wire. The cover may only be mounted near the unit and is designed to protect with a maximum size of (18”x18”) (inches square) and mounted ONLY parallel from the upper right frame rail to the lower right frame rail.
d. A 5” (inch) maximum drop of the hood on either side of the hood will be permitted and it must be enclosed at the rear of the hood.
e. Hood must be able to be removed without the use of tools. Hood pins are preferred. Hoods will not be able to be fastened into place using bolts of any kind.
f. A maximum of a 7″ (inch) hood scoop will be allowed.
g. The panel used for protecting the components under the car may be used but it cannot go any further than the back than the engine mid plate and can be no wider than 26″ (inches). If the inspector cannot see what he needs to you must remove the panel to where the inspector can inspect.
h. All cars must have a car number on both sides and the roof that are at least 18” (inches) in height and 14” (inches) in width.
i. A minimum of 2″ (inches) of tire clearance from the body is required.
j. The minimum ground clearance will be 4” (inches).
k. The maximum body width at the body’s widest part will be 72″ (inches). The minimum of width at the body’s narrowest part will be 53″ (inches). The top of the doors may have a maximum width of 67″ (inches). On the left side, the rear of the door may flare out 6″ (inches) for tire clearance.
l. The bottom of the flare must be curved and rounded not pointed in any fashion.
m. The maximum rear width of the car must be 67″ (inches) at the widest point.
n. Quarter Panel(s) cannot extend past the decking of the car when checked with a straight edge.
o. Composite bodies will be allowed on all sides of the car. The measurements must be the same as those of aluminum bodies.
B. Nose
a. A maximum of 1″ (inch) flange on the outside edges (left and right side vertically) for the purpose of strengthening only will be permitted on the front nose only. Side fins and/or flanges of any kind along the length of the entire car (hood, front, and/or roof) will not be permitted.
b. The nose piece must not exceed 45” (inches) in width, centered between the frame rails and must not extend past the leading edge of the front bumper. The nose piece must have a minimum of 4″ (inches) from the ground to the bottom edge of the nose piece.
2027: Nose
a. Maximum overall nose width is forty-two (42) inches. Nose must remain flat, parallel to the deck and may not be concaved.
b. No material will be permitted to extend past the leading edge of the front bumper with the exception of the valence.
c. The MD3 D3 Modified Aero Valance is approved.
C. Roof, Roof Posts, Roof Supports and Window Side Panels
a. All roofs must be full size. Half-moon roofs will not be permitted. The rear edge of the roof may not be mounted more than 12” (inches) past the rear axle. The roof must be symmetrical. Roofs not mounted parallel to the deck will not be permitted.
b. Wings, roof spoilers or ground effects of any kind will not be permitted.
c. A maximum of 5 fasteners on the rear of the roof will be permitted.
d. All flat type roofs will be allowed a maximum 3” (inch) difference in height between the front of the roof and the rear of the roof. This measurement may be taken from the interior and/or the ground. The rear of the roof must maintain the same height from side to-side. The maximum height of the roof will be 54″ (inches). Roofs must be attached to the roll cage. Spacers beneath the roof will not be permitted.
e. All front roof posts must meet flush with the edge of the body.
f. All rear roof posts must meet flush with the edge of the body. All rear roof posts must be flat and straight with a 1” (inch) tolerance, no radius will be permitted.
g. All curved type roofs will be allowed a maximum of 5” (inches) in the front and 2” (inches) in the rear. The break in the roof must be within 6” (inches) from the center of the roof.
h. Wedge roofs will not be permitted.
i. Dished roofs will not be permitted. Roofs must be rounded side-to-side. Bead rolls will be permitted. The roof must be level from side to side with a 1” (inch) wide x 1/8” (inch) thick stiffener in the center.
j. The roof should be single thickness of material. The roll bar hoops must be exposed for inspection.
k. If the roof is curved, then a level will be placed on the top of the car and if the roof is 5” (inches) or less in the front and 2” (inches) or less in the rear and the break is in the middle then the roof will be permitted.
l. The roofs must be stock appearing. The roof must maintain the same height on both sides. If a DIRTcar and/or local track official determines the roof does not meet the requirements as stated above then a penalty as determined by the official may be determined prior to competition, additional weight and/or other penalties, unless the roof can be returned to within the parameter as stated above prior to competition in the event that the roof was inspected for.
m. The minimum roof height is 42″ (inches) with a maximum height of 54″ (inches).
n. The maximum roof width will be 50″ (inches) with a minimum of 44″ (inches).
o. The maximum roof length will be 56″ (inches) with a minimum roof length of 41″ (inches).
p. The front roof post must be in a straight line from top to bottom. They must be the same on both sides.
q. The maximum height on the rear roof post/sail panel vertical is 3 inches.
r. The rear roof post must begin where it meets the back edge of the roof. The rear roof supports may not extend past the front side of the rear upright of the roll cage.
s. The side vents on the front roof posts may extend rearward from the lowest point, a maximum of 16” (inches), then at a 90-degree angle to roof for one (1) configuration, side vents must meet the outside of the car.
t. The sail panels must be the same design and length (top and bottom) on both sides of the car. Sail panels can be fully closed, or fully opened, with no slots or tunneling devices permitted.
u. Sail panels should measure no more than 62″ (inches) long and must meet flush with the edge of the body. Both right and left side sail panels must measure exactly the same. A 1″ (inch) bow in the sail panel will be permitted. Sail panels must measure a max of 3″ (inches) at the rear of the deck.
v. Sail panels must be mounted flush to the edge of the quarter panel.
w. Any sun shield must be on hinge for easy exiting, taping will not be permitted. The window opening must remain at a minimum of 12” (inches).
x. All race cars in competition must meet the measurements illustrated in the DIRTcar drawing.
D. Doors
a. The top of the doors must remain in line with the rear engine plate. The bottom of the doors may extend a maximum of 8” (inches) past the motor plate toward the front of the vehicle. Any material that exceeds 8” (inches) forward of the engine plate will not be permitted.
b. Right panel from top of door to bottom of door may not be no more than 3″ (inches) and must be mounted straight inside the bottom.
E. Deck
a. Deck length may be a maximum of 120″ (inches) from the rear of engine. Deck must remain parallel to the frame and chassis and the same width from front to back. The front of the deck must be level to the ground from side to side. Decking must have the same total length on each side of the car.
b. The minimum deck height is 28” (inches) with a maximum height of 39” (inches).
c. The deck height should measure within 1” (inch) from side-to-side.
d. The measurement from the center of the hub to the rear top of deck will be a minimum of 34” (inches) and a maximum of 48” (inches).
e. Interior decks must be flat from side to side.
f. Interior decks must be flat from side to side. Interior decks may have up to a total of 6” (inches) of “rake” from the most forward part of the deck to the most rearward part of the deck as described below. Interior deck from the rear of the seat forward may be flat or have up to 3” (inches) of rake. The interior deck from the rear of the seat to the rear of the car cannot exceed 3” (inches) of rake regardless of how much rake the front portion measures. The rake of the rear portion of the interior deck must be in a straight flat line from the rear of the seat to the rear of the car.
F. Interior and Driver Compartment
a. All windows must have a minimum 11” (inch) vertical opening. The entire interior must have a minimum of 11” (inches) of clearance from the interior deck to the roof and all sections of the roll cage. The interior deck sheet metal to the right side of the driver from the back of the seat forward should be fabricated on an angle from the driveshaft tunnel to the right-side window to promote ease of exit for the driver through the right side and or front window opening.
b. Hydraulic and/or pneumatic weight jacks, trackers, or similar adjustable components of any type will not be permitted.
c. Mirrors of any type will not be permitted.
d. The driver’s compartment must be sealed from the engine and the racetrack. The rear bubble of the hood should be closed and sealed from the driver.
e. Any car in competition must have the right-side door bars as part of the roll cage. Please reference Chapter 3, Section 7, in the roll cage section of the 2026 DIRTcar UMP Modified Rule Book.
G. Body Skew
a. The measurement of the left rear quarter panel from the center of the hub to the rear of the quarter panel should not exceed 48” (inches). Measuring 67” (inches) from the left rear quarter panel to the right rear quarter panel, when 90 1/2” (inches) forward along the right-side door, the diagonal measurement from that point to the top corner of the left rear quarter panel should not be less than 111” (inches). You will be allowed 1” (inch) tolerance.
2027: Body skew will be forbidden as the front, middle, and rear t-bar all must measure 67″.
H. Drip Rail
a. Drip Rail can measure no more than 3″ (inches).
Section 9 – Brakes, Brake Components, and Wheel Hub
A. All cars must be equipped with a working braking system on all four wheels and all four wheels must be able to stop/brake all times.
B. Only magnetic steel rotors will be permitted. Carbon fiber and/or aluminum rotors will not be permitted. Drilling, lightening and/or any alteration to the brake rotors or calipers will not be permitted.
C. Only stock O.E.M. calipers will be permitted. Aluminum calipers will be permitted.
D. Only stock O.E.M. rotors will be permitted. Single disc brake rotors or scalloped rotors will not be permitted. Floating brake systems of any type will not be permitted.
Section 10 – Wheels and Tires
A. This rule may be amended by a bulletin.
B. The DIRTcar only approved tires are the Hoosier M-30 and M-60 compounds in the DIRTcar plated tire 26.5/8.0/15 or 27.5/8.0/15. The maximum width of the tire will be 9″ inches.
C. The M-60 may be used as a right rear option tire.
D. Grooving permitted.
E. Siping permitted.
F. Recapping of an approved tire is not permitted.
G. Any local track and/or DIRTcar official can confiscate any tire at any time and during any DIRTcar event to be evaluated and analyzed including verification using a tire durometer
H. Tires may also be submitted for further chemical analysis.
I. Defacing or altering any of the manufacturer’s identification markings, letters, words, numbers, on any tire will not be permitted.
J. Any alteration of tires may result in immediate suspension from all DIRTcar racetracks and/or events and/or penalties deemed appropriate by local track and/or DIRTcar and/or World Racing Group Supervisory Officials.
K. Tire softeners and/or chemicals designed to alter the chemical characteristics of the tire and/or the tire surface will not be permitted.
L. Bead locks will be permitted on all four wheels. Inner bead locks will not be permitted.
M. Wheel discs shall be fastened to the wheel using a minimum of three (3)- 5/16 inch or (3) ¼ inch diameter magnetic steel hex head bolts.
N. The use of wheel discs with any other type of fastener will not be permitted.
O. As an option a wheel cover with minimum of (5) five steel Zeus fasteners mounting points may be approved.
P. Only 8-inch DIRTcar approved and labeled racing wheels will be permitted.
Q. Wheel Spacers should not exceed diameter of drive plate. Must be steel or aluminum.
R. All wheels must be conventional one-piece magnetic steel and must be mounted with lug nuts. Aluminum, plastic and/or carbon fiber wheels will not be permitted.
S. All wheels must be fastened to the hub with five lug nuts.
T. Approved fastening (nut assembly) systems:

Section 11 – Suspension, Suspension Components, Springs, Shocks, Steering, and Steering Components
A. General
a. Any “live axle”-type rear ends will not be permitted.
b. Quick change rear ends will be permitted. No lightened, 8″ or midget rear ends allowed. Only magnetic axle steel tubes will be permitted.
c. Aluminum spools will be permitted. Aluminum 3rd members will not.
d. Aluminum birdcages will not be permitted. Aluminum third members will not be permitted.
e. Independent rear suspensions will not be permitted.
f. Only floater hub assemblies will be permitted.
g. The front suspension must be O.E.M. and be in stock location. The front suspension must have replaceable stock part(s) O.E.M 3 piece spindles allowed with aftermaket brake mount and spindle saver..
h. Only stock passenger car spindles will be permitted. Fabricated spindles will not be permitted.
i. Alterations and/or relocation of the lower A-frames will not be permitted. Only stock appearing after-market tower control arms which are mounted in the OEM location will be permitted. All tubular and/or specifically fabricated after-market lower control arms will not be permitted.
j. Tubular-type upper A-frames will be permitted. The upper A-frame mounting locations may be altered. Upper control arm must be mounted on top of frame rail. Aluminum cross shafts will be permitted
k. Upper ball joint must come down through the top of the control arm through the spindle. Lower control arm – the ball joint must come up from the bottom of the control arm through the spindle.
l. No bump stops will be permitted on any suspension component.
B. Rear Suspension
a. All components must be steel. Covers of any-type, other than shock covers, will not be permitted. All rear suspension mounts and brackets must be welded or bolted solid. All springs must be a minimum of 5″.
b. Coil springs must remain vertical. Springs must be mounted to the rear end housing. The spring location may be on top, to the rear or to the front of the housing. Springs must be mounted in identical locations on both sides of rear end housing.
c. Coil-over eliminators utilizing a minimum spring diameter of 5.00″-inches will be permitted.
d. Chains, Cables, and/or tethers to limit or control movement will be permitted on left rear (shocks and/or dampeners not permitted). Solid chains, cables, and/or tethers must be securely mounted from upper frame rails directly to axle tubes (cannot be mounted to any floating device, or connected to any dampening device.) A chain, cable, and/or tether. option will be allowed on the right rear. The chain must be loose when the shock is fully extended. Compliance devices will not be permitted for competition.
e. Rear shock absorbers mounted on the control arms will not be permitted.
f. All rear control arms and panhard bars must be straight and J Bars connected end-to-end using a solid mounting system on either end. Only one of the following designs will be permitted for competition;
i. A three (3) link design will be permitted with the following requirements. The lower control arms must maintain a maximum length of 1 inch between each arm. The one (1) upper control arm must be a solid tube located at the top center of the rear end housing and remain centered (one -inch tolerance) over the housing and/or top of the drive shaft. One panhard bar, a minimum of 23″-inches in length can be mounted behind the rear end housing. A J-Bar or a straight bar will be permitted. J-Bars or a straight bar must be mounted from the left side frame rail to the right side of driveshaft. The lower spring perch must be welded or bolted solid to the rear end housing. The bottom of the rear spring(s) must remain within 2 ¾-inch of the axle tube(s). Only steel upper weight jack(s) will be permitted. Floating and/or bearing rear spring perches/cups will not be permitted. Suspension stops of any type will not be permitted.
ii. OEM stock design suspensions will be permitted with the following requirements. The rear crossmember and control arm mounts and bolt holes on frame must remain the stock OEM location. All components must be unaltered, approved OEM and match frame. The control arms must not be altered. Only steel, rubber or nylon control arm bushings will be permitted. The rear springs must remain in the stock OEM location. The lower spring perch must be welded to the rear end housing. Only upper weight jacks made of magnetic steel wheel be permitted.
g. Leaf spring stacked steel are permitted. Composite material springs are not permitted. Mono leaf springs are not permitted.
h. In the rear of the car a minimum 5″-inch spring is required.
i. One steel, non-progressive closed end coil spring per wheel only.minimum 5 inches O.D. Front springs must be (9.5”-inch free height with 0.5 inch tolerance. Rear coil springs must be 11-16 inch free height with 0.5 inch tolerance. No torsion bars, air bags ,inner liners or spring rubbers allowed.
j. Aluminum shocks, shells, aluminum hubs, aluminum A-frames, aluminum rear-end, aluminum tubes and/or other aluminum suspension parts will not be permitted.
k. Coil over shocks of any type on the front of the car will not be permitted.
l. Only one shock per wheel will be permitted. No other shocks will be permitted on the car.
m. Only (1) shock per wheel will be permitted and rear shock must be mounted with in twenty-five (25) degrees of vertical. Only Conventional type.
n. All shocks must be smooth, steel body, and completely collapse at any time. No external or internal bumpers or stops. No bulb-type, threaded body, AGR, or remote reservoir shocks. No Schrader valves or bladder type valves are allowed.
Section 12 – Safety Equipment
A. General
a. Each competitor is solely responsible for the effectiveness and proper installation, per the manufacturer’s specifications, of personal safety equipment and determining it to be adequate for competition at every event. Each competitor is expected to investigate and educate themselves for continuing improvement regarding their own personal safety equipment.
b. Different safety regulations may be in place depending on the local and/or state government rules and/or laws and/or regulations in the specific location of the racetrack. Helmet and seatbelt dates and/or specified equipment requirements, worn, utilized and/or otherwise may be different than specified in the rulebook. Contact your local track officials for more information regarding this.
c. Each division section will cover the General and Specific Safety and Personal Protection minimum requirements. All participants are solely responsible to meet the requirements in the specific division.
d. Only SFI 45.1 roll bar padding may be used. Knee, steering pads and/or additional padding may be utilized.
e. All teams should have an easily accessible fire extinguisher or its equivalent in the team’s pit area.
B. Seat Belts and Restraint Systems
a. Each car must be equipped with a minimum of an SFI 16.1 or SFI 16.5 approved restraint system. Restraint system will be eligible for use in competition until the expiration date or for 2 years from the date of manufacture. Seat belt restraint systems shall be installed and used in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
b. In any type of manufacturer’s installation, the fasteners must be as supplied by the manufacturer.
c. Seat belt material should not be permitted to come in contact with any sharp or metal edge, including when the material passes through the seat.
C. Protective Clothing
a. All drivers will be required to wear a fire-resistant driving uniform meeting the minimum of the SFI 3.2A/5 specifications and display a valid SFI 3.2A/5 label on the outside of the uniform.
b. Drivers must wear gloves at all times they are on track. Driver’s gloves must meet or exceed the SFI 3.3 specification and have a legible and valid SFI 3.3 label.
c. Drivers must wear shoes that meet the minimum of the SFI 3.3 specifications and display a valid SFI 3.3 label.
D. Seats
a. All current seats must be full containment type constructed of aluminum or approved carbon fiber and must adhere to the general design specifications of SFI 39.2 seat construction standards. Design shall include comprehensive head surround, shoulder and torso support system, energy impact foam, and removable head foam.
b. Carbon fiber seats must have a current valid SFI 39.2 certification.
c. SFI 39.2 seat compliance for the World of Outlaws Late Models, Super DIRTcar Series, 358 Modifieds and DIRTcar Late Models will become mandatory at a future date.
d. SFI 39.2 seat compliance for the DIRTcar Pro Late Models, UMP Modifieds, UMP Pro Modifieds, NE Sportsman will become mandatory at a future date.
e. Up fitting a current seat with bolt-on kits will be permitted with a seat manufacturer produced kit and an acceptable base seat approved by the seat manufacturer. Components must include a comprehensive head surround, shoulder and torso support system, and energy impact foam. Must be installed in accordance with the seat manufacturer’s instructions. Combining components may not meet SFI 39.2 Certification.
f. Seats must be used as supplied and installed following instructions provided by the seat manufacturer.
g. If the left side head surround is 7”-inches or less when measured from the back of the headrest, then a left side head net meeting the SFI 37.1 must be installed with a quick release latch. A minimum left side head surround of 4”-inches is required.
E. Helmets
a. All drivers must wear a full-face helmet with a minimum safety rating of FIA 8860-2010, FIA 8860-2018, Snell SA 2015, Snell SA 2010, Snell SAH 2010 and/or a valid SFI 31.1/2005 label.
F. Head and Neck Restraints
a. Drivers, at all times they are on the track, must have their helmets correctly (following manufacturers installation and use instructions) connected to an approved head and neck restraint.
b. The head and neck restraint must be SFI 38.1 approved and display a legible and valid SFI 38.1 label.
G. Fire Suppression
a. Required for DIRTcar Late Models, Super DIRTcar Series, DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds, DIRTcar 358 Modified, DIRTcar NE Sportsman and DIRTcar NE Pro Stocks. It is recommended for all other divisions.
b. All racecars shall be equipped with a thermally deployed automatic fire suppression system. The fire suppression system will consist of a DOT approved cylinder manufactured from aluminum or steel with a capacity of ten (10) lbs. of fire extinguishing agent, steel or steel reinforced lines, and has a minimum of two (2) thermally activated discharge nozzles.
c. All systems must meet or exceed SFI 17.1 specifications.
d. Systems must be fully charged with ten (10) lbs. of DuPont FE-36, 3M NOVEC 1230, FireAde or 4Fire and display a legible and valid SFI and manufacturer label depicting fire extinguishing agent, capacity, and certification date. Cylinders that are beyond useful certification date must be inspected, serviced and re-labeled by the manufacturer.
e. Cylinders must be mounted forward of the fuel cell. Cylinders must be securely mounted to the frame/roll cage assembly. The certification label must be unobstructed and easily accessible for inspection when the mounting is complete. For systems with one activation point, the activation point may be mounted in the cockpit or rear of the car close to the fuel cell.
f. The cylinder must be connected to the nozzles with steel or steel reinforced lines.
g. 2 (two) thermally activated nozzles must be used. One (1) nozzle must be located directly above the fuel cell in the fuel cell area and the second nozzle located in the driver cockpit area.
h. An optional manual override cable is recommended for two (2) thermal automatic nozzle systems but is mandatory for systems with one (1) activation point.
Section 13 – Electronics, Gauges, and Dash Modules
A. All electronic and/or computerized wheel spin and/or acceleration retardation traction control devices will not be permitted. Controlled timing devices attached to or controlling accelerator or rotation of wheel will not be permitted.
B. All traction control devices utilizing wheel sensors and/or any means of measuring ground speed to control wheel spin will not be permitted.
C. Adjustable ping control devices, dial a chip controls, timing controls or automated throttle controls will not be permitted in cockpit or driver accessible areas.
D. Adjustable restrictor plates will not be permitted.
E. Any remotely controlled components inside or outside the cockpit of any competitor’s racecar will not be permitted.
F. Radios or devices for transmitting voice or data will not be permitted, either in the racecar or on anyone connected with the car.
G. The uses of pit boards or colored flashlights are prohibited
Section 14 – Shock Claim
A. Shock Claims
a. The shock absorber claim will be $350.00 per shock absorber. (No exchanges.
b. Any competitor who processes a claim must have taken the checkered flag in the feature race and have finished the feature race on the lead lap.
c. The claim must be presented in cash or certified check to the promoter or designated DIRTcar official within five (5) minutes after the completion of the feature race.
d. The driver must have the claim payment and his/her current, valid DIRTcar membership/claim card available. Yearly DIRTcar memberships run from January 1 through December 31 each calendar year.
e. All claims, positive or negative, must be reported immediately to DIRTcar headquarters by the event promoter and/or chief steward of the event.
f. Drivers will only have the ability to make two (2) claims in any DIRTcar UMP Modified season.
g. A driver can claim another driver’s shock only once during the year.
h. Only the shock of the event winner can be claimed.
i. In the event of multiple claims on the same shock, the shock will go to a qualified driver who finished the furthest back in the field on the lead lap.
j. Drivers may not claim any shock if he/she has spun out and caused a caution period.
k. If a claim is refused, the claim is not held against the claiming driver.
l. The claim rule is intended to maintain cost effectiveness and a level playing field in the DIRTcar UMP Modified division.
m. Any driver making a claim must drive his/her car immediately after the finish of the feature, under its own power, directly to the claiming area. Only drivers and officials will be permitted in the claim area. The claim area must be designated by the promoter to all drivers at the driver’s meeting prior to the feature event. The feature winner must go to the claim area immediately following the finish of the feature event. If no driver comes immediately to the claiming area, the winner may proceed as directed.
n. The claimed shock must be completely removed within one (1) hour from the time the claim is made.
o. The first sell/no sell of the shock by the driver being claimed is considered binding.
p. Only a qualified driver may claim a shock and only the winning driver may agree to sell.
q. Any refusal to sell, forfeits all cash, trophies and contingency winnings for the feature as well as all DIRTcar State and National points awarded for that night. Any driver refusing to sell his/her shock the first time is fined $200.00 and is suspended for the next racing event at their home track and one (1) week from all DIRTcar sanctioned race tracks. The second infraction for a driver refusing to sell their shock is a $600.00 fine and a suspension from all DIRTcar sanctioned tracks for 30 days.
r. All claimed shocks must be removed from the car at the track. The claimant must examine the shock before removal. Once removal has started, the claim is final. Any sabotage to claim a shock will result in the saboteur being suspended from all DIRTcar races for 30 days and until the fine of $1,000.00 is paid to DIRTcar.
s. To claim an shock, the claiming driver must have raced at least one-half of the sanctioned events at the sanctioned track where the claim is made or at a minimum the three (3) most recent consecutive feature events at that track. A driver can have his/her shock claimed at any time. No claim can be made against a driver on his/her first night at a sanctioned track.
Section 15 – Series Decals and Patches
A. All participants shall display required decals as provided on decal verification sheet to be allowed to compete.
B. Series Decal on both sides of the car is mandatory, Driver’s series patch mandatory to receive point fund distribution.
C. To receive any contingency sponsorship awards, the team must meet the requirements of the award such as decals, patches, product use, product verification.
