Details Announced for Inaugural Six Shooter Showdown at Dodge City Raceway Park

DODGE CITY, Kan. — Race fans in Southwestern Kansas shouldn’t have to wait too long before the first big event of 2010.

The Inagural Six Shooter Showdown will roll into town on Friday & Saturday May 7-8, 2010. The event features the Midwest DIRTcar Late Model Series and the Colorado Late Model Association DIRTcar Series squaring off for the first time ever on the lightning fast 3/8 mile state of the art facility.

The Kansas and Colorado based series will be racing for a $1200 payday on Friday night and a $1500 payday on Saturday night. Both series were recently sanctioned this past offseason by the UMP DIRTcar Series and are now part of a 10 series banner flown by UMP. The Late Models will run a complete show each night.

Also on the card both days will be the Mod Lite division with a special event paying $600 to the Champion on Saturday night. A strong number of cars from many states are expected for the big showdown for the small cars, with a purse unheard of for the area. Friday night will feature qualifying for Saturday night’s main event.

Colorado Late Model AssociationAlso supporting the event will be the first points races of the season for the Thunder and Hornet divisions on Friday night, along with the Stock Cars on Saturday night.

Action will kick off Friday night with hot laps at 7PM followed by the night’s first races at 8PM. On Saturday night hot laps will start at 6PM with championship racing starting at 7PM.

Ticket prices each day are $15 for adults, $10 for Seniors 65&up, and $5 for youth 12&under. Pit passes each day are $25.

The host hotel for the event is the Dodge House Hotel. With a mention of the Six Shooter Showdown customers will be eligible for a discounted rate both nights of $69 plus tax, which includes 2 breakfast coupons for the breakfast buffet at the adjoining restaurant. A website has been set up for the event at www.md-promotions.com by following the links. On the event’s site any drivers wishing to participate may pre-enter. The Mod Lites will have a pre-entry deadline, all drivers pre-entering before April 15 will be subject to a $50 entry fee while any Mod Lite driver entering after will need to pay $100. The Late Models will have an entry fee of $50 per night but do not have a pre-entry deadline.
