The top full-fender drivers in the Northeast traveled to The Dirt Track at Charlotte, with two drivers earning momentum toward Saturday’s World Short Track Championship Feature.

Zach Sorrentino and Denis Gauvreau won their MSD Pro Stock Heat Races, getting the edge on their competitors for Saturday’s finale.

Heat Race 1

Sorrentino, the reigning Lebanon Valley Speedway track champion, powered ahead of Eric Jean-Louis as the field worked down the backstretch on Lap 1.

That was all the driver of the No. 54S needed as he cruised to the win in MSD Pro Stock Heat Race 1.

Jean-Louis held on to finish second, while Marc Lalonde crossed the line in third.

Lalonde moved from fifth to third in the closing laps, using the middle lane to split Jordan Modiano and Marc Peladeau in Turn 4.

Modiano finished fourth, and Peladeau rounded out the top five.

Heat Race 2

After setting Quick Time on Thursday, Denis Gauvreau picked up where he left off on Friday, leading every lap of MSD Pro Stock Heat Race 2.

While the Chelsea, QC driver pulled away, 2023 DIRTcar Pro Stock Series champion Luke Horning and Chris Stalker came together while battling for second, dropping them out of the top five.

That allowed three-time Series champion Jocelyn Roy and reigning champion Pete Stefanski to move into the top three. Stefanski is driving Phil Defiglio’s No. 28 car for the rest of the weekend after his car was damaged in Thursday’s Championship Invitational Feature.

Gary Silkey finished fourth, and Shawn Perez Sr. finished fifth.

Horning finished sixth, while Stalker finished seventh.
