While people across the United States celebrate America’s 250th birthday, two DIRTcar Sportsman Series regions will crown their 2026 champion.

First, the DIRTcar Sportsman Series North Region holds its final event of the season at Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville, NY, on Wednesday, July 1.  The Pabst Shootout will be a 30-lap Feature paying $1,000-to-win.

The race is a combined event with the Central Region, which will battle in race three of its five-race schedule.

Then, the East Region finishes its season on Sunday, June 7, at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park in Fultonville, NY. Like Wednesday’s battle at Can-Am, it’ll be a 30-lap Feature with $1,000 on the line.

Here’s a look at what to watch for at Can-Am/Glen Ridge:

NORTH REGION

Top of the Class: Entering Wednesday night’s Pabst Shootout at Can-Am, three drivers have the chance to win the North Region championship.

Tristan Ladouceur is the current points leader after finishing second on Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway. The Alexandria, ON driver holds a 10-point lead over defending Series champion Shane Pecore, who’s also looking for back-to-back North Region titles.

Ladouceur is aiming for his first DIRTcar Sportsman Series victory and has found success at Can-Am in the past. His last two starts at Can-Am have been third-place finishes.

If Ladouceur finishes fourth or better, he’ll be the 2026 North Region champion.

Pecore, from Cornwall, ON, has also found success at the “Nasty Track of the North,” with six straight top 10 finishes in Series events, including three seconds. A win by Pecore would be his first Series win at Can-Am and 14th overall.

Brennan Moore is the third driver who could earn the North Region championship on Wednesday. The Elgin, ON driver is 24 points behind Ladouceur, and may have the edge over his competitors after winning the North region opener at Can-Am in April.

CENTRAL REGION

Central Leaders: While a North Region champion will be crowned, the Central Region will also contend for the $1,000 prize in a combined event.

Hunter Hollenbeck leads the Region standings by eight points over Cody Manitta, after winning at Weedsport Speedway in May and finishing third at Brewerton Speedway last Friday. Hollenbeck, from Fulton, NY, has made one Series start at Can-Am, finishing 15th last year.

Finch, meanwhile, is searching for his first career DIRTcar Sportsman Series victory after he finished fourth at Brewerton and second at Weedsport. Like Hollenbeck, Finch made his lone Series start at Can-Am a year ago, when he finished 11th.

Richard Murtaugh III, who won more Sportsman Features than any other driver in 2025, is third in the regional standings heading into Wednesday’s race, 14 points behind Hollenbeck. The Fulton, NY, driver has more experience at Can-Am than Hollenbeck and Finch, having raced weekly at the track last season.

In his last three Series starts at Can-Am, Murtaugh hasn’t finished off the podium, including a victory last September.

Murtaugh is searching for his eighth career Series win.

Scarborough has back-to-back podiums entering this weekend, earning a third at Airborne Park Speedway and a win at Bear Ridge Speedway, a track like Glen Ridge.

The Brandon, VT driver has never made a Series start at Glen Ridge, but if he finishes 12th or better, he’ll claim the East Region championship.

Wason, meanwhile, has entered five DIRTcar Sportsman Series Features this year and finished in the top 10 in all of them. That includes two ninths and a sixth in East Region competition. A win by the Middlegrove, NY driver on Sunday would be his first career Series win.

Ridge Runners: Glen Ridge has run five Features so far in 2026, with three different drivers reaching Victory Lane.

Derrick McGrew Jr. has won three consecutive Features entering this weekend and is no stranger to DIRTcar Sportsman Series competition. The Ballston Spa, NY driver has a win, three top fives, and seven top 10s in his career.  That victory came at Glen Ridge in 2023.

Current track points leader Zach Buff has also reached Victory Lane at the track this season and won an East Region Feature at Glen Ridge in 2022. In four East Region starts, the Latham, NY driver has three top fives and four top 10s, including three podiums. Buff has finished in the top five in all five Features at Glen Ridge this season.
