Can-Am Loses Series Shows For 2nd Straight Year During Super DIRT Week

CanAm Motorsports ParkLaFargeville, NYOctober 7, 2009 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director

For the third time in the past three years, rain forced track and series officials to cancel the October 7 Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Championship event at Can-Am Motorsports Park. Yet unlike last October when Mother Nature provided no other option but to pull the plug on the ‘Nasty Track of the North,’ the event will not be rescheduled.

Also scheduled to be in action Wednesday was a Hoosier-VP Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series event and a Super DIRT Week Street Stock special.

“The weather is just not going to cooperate with us,” stated Can-Am Race Director Chip Burdick. “It has absolutely down-poured here all day long and
there is just no way that we are going to be able to get this show in. And the forecast for the rest of the day and the night is absolutely no better than what we have seen so far today. We were really hoping to get the event in this year, especially after losing out twice last year.”

Racing in the Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Championship Series continues at full speed in round two of four consecutive nights of extra-distance activity scheduled during the annual Super DIRT Week extravaganza in the Salt City. Brewerton Speedway continues the rare quadrupleheader on Thursday, October 8 followed by Rolling Wheels (Oct. 9) before closing out with the headline 150-lap Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Series Championship race on the Syracuse Mile on Saturday.

Can-Am Motorsports Park has now officially concluded its 2009 racing season, with information continuing to be found at www.canammotorsports.com. There will also be upcoming information on the 2010 season as well or by contacting Chip Burdick at 315/778-3407.
