CONCORD, N.C. – March 11, 2011 – DIRTcar officials announced today the 40th annual running of Super DIRT Week – identified by the roman numerals XL – will in fact be extra large as it expands to primetime when the Triple 20s for the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds and Twin 20s for DIRTcar 358-Modifieds go under the lights on Friday, Oct. 7, at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.

In addition, for the first time since 2004, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series will become part of Super DIRT Week on Thursday, Oct. 6, when it combines with the DIRTcar 358-Modifieds for an exciting night of action at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park. Super DIRT Week now joins the World Finals and DIRTcar Nationals as one of only three annual events where fans can see the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, World of Outlaws Late Models and Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds.

Following that huge Thursday night at Rolling Wheels, one of the most exciting days of Super DIRT Week will become the most thrilling night on the Moody Mile as the Triple 20 and Twin 20 heat races set the field for the SEF Small Engine Fuels 200 and the DIRTcar 358-Modified 150-mile feature.

“It’s been a long time since DIRTcar fans saw racing under the lights at the New York State Fairgrounds and I can’t wait to see it,” said World Racing Group CEO Brian Carter. “Moving the Triple 20s and Twin 20s to Friday night creates an exciting atmosphere for racers and fans alike, and it is a great way to begin the biggest annual weekend of DIRTcar Racing.”

Officials began working with engineers on temporary lighting solutions over the winter and are confident the results will be stunning for everybody involved.

The buzz at the New York State Fairgrounds begins Tuesday, Oct. 4, with early inspection before campers and fans move into the Moody Mile on Wednesday. Time trials highlight Thursday’s on-track activity leading to the new Friday under-the-lights action. The weekend events will run in their traditional afternoon time slots, with the DIRTcar 358-Modified championship at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, after the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified feature, and the SEF Small Engine Fuels 200 at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9, following the DIRTcar Pro Stock championship event and the Top 30 driver autograph session.

The 40th Super DIRT Week action also includes nightly events throughout Central New York beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 5, with DIRTcar 358-Modifieds at Cayuga County Fair Speedway in Weedsport followed on Thursday with the World of Outlaws Late Models and DIRTcar 358-Modifieds at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge. For the third consecutive year, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars will return on Saturday night, Oct. 8, to Rolling Wheels Raceway Park along with the “Win-and-You’re-In” Big-Block Modified feature where the winner earns the final starting spot in the field for the SEF Small Engine Fuels 200.
