DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Series and DIRTcar 358-Modified Series finales at Brockville wrap up 2014 season
BROCKVILLE, ONTARIO – Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 – The 1000 Islands RV Centre DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals weekend, which runs from Friday, Oct. 18, through Sunday, Oct. 20, brings the best race teams from across the region to Brockville Ontario Speedway for a post-season spectacular.
The action-packed weekend kicks off Friday, Oct. 18, with a full show for the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Series. After a thrilling victory during NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLII, Brad Rouse, of St. Catharines, Ontario, has the point lead in the series. Mathieu Desjardins is second and division rookie Joey Ladouceur third. Friday’s finale for the season will determine which driver has what it takes to claim the coveted DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Series Championship. Rookie and Vintage divisions will also battle it out Friday at Brockville Ontario Speedway
Next up is the DIRTcar 358-Modified Series show set for Saturday, Oct. 19. Pit gates open early, at 9 a.m., and a driver autograph session takes over the grandstand area at 10:30 p.m. Racing starts at 1 p.m., with Sprints also joining Saturday’s schedule.
Danny Johnson leads in DIRTcar 358-Modified Series points after picking up a NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLII win at Weedsport Speedway, but Danny O’Brien only trails by 10 points and Carey Terrance by 31. Local driver O’Brien finished second to Lee Gill in 358-Modified track points at Brockville, and is ready to do one better after Saturday’s last DIRTcar 358-Modified Series race of the season.
The 1000 Islands RV Centre Fall Nationals weekend concludes Sunday, Oct. 20, with the 800-plus horsepower Big-Block Modifieds of the Super DIRTcar Series. Rounding out another phenomenal season, Brett “the Jet” Hearn has the lead in Super DIRTcar Series point standings, followed by three-time series champion Matt Sheppard and NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLII Syracuse 200 Champion Billy Dunn. The Super DIRTcar Series drivers have just four more feature events to duke it out for the 2014 championship title.
