The MSD Performance DIRTcar Northeast Pro Stocks hit the track for the second night of the World Short Track Championships for their Heat Races at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
Denis Gauvreau jumped out to an early lead after starting on the pole for the first Heat of the DIRTcar Northeast Pro Stocks. He held a sizable lead over his competitors for the six-lap matchup, never relinquishing his lead and finishing first. Pete Stefanski of Wheatfield, NY charged his way up from the outside of row two to the runner-up position, where he finished. Luke Horning, the runner-up in the DIRTcar Northeast Series point competition, started in fifth and charged his way up to third, unable to catch up to Stefanski. Nick Hilt finished fourth, and Jordan Modiano finished fifth.
In the second Heat Race, Mark Lalonde echoed Gauvreau’s pattern, securing the lead from the green flag and holding onto it for the duration of the race. Johnathan Levesque charged up from fourth position to second, while Josh Coonradt rounded out the top three finishers.
Sean Corr finished fourth and Sheldon Martin finished fifth.
All finishers will transfer to tomorrow’s DIRTcar Northeast Pro Stock Feature Race.
