Super DIRTcar Series and DIRTcar Pro Stock Series Friday, DIRTcar 358-Modifieds and DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds Saturday
AKWESASNE, N. Y. – September 9, 2012 – Four DIRTcar Northeast traveling tours head to Mohawk International Raceway next weekend, September 14 and 15, for two action-packed racing nights. The Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series and DIRTcar Pro Stock Series run Friday night, Sept. 14, and theDIRTcar 358-Modified Series and DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Series run Saturday, Sept. 15
Season standout and Mohawk 358-Modified track champion Billy Dunn hasn’t won a Super DIRTcar Series race since he started following the series in 2007, but this year could be his chance. After four top-five finishes and five top-tens, the Watertown, N. Y., native is fourth in points for the series, and set to challenge leader Matt Sheppard, runner-up Jimmy Phelps, and third-place Brett Hearn when he brings his Number One Speed Racing No. 49 American Traditions-Fast Lube of Watertown-Frosty’s Ice Cream/Bicknell Big-Block to his stronghold track.
“We’re looking forward to going up. It’s just a really nice place. Don and John have put a lot into making that place one of the nicest tracks around. The track is smooth every week and it’s a racey track,” said Dunn, who claimed victory June at Mohawk’s DIRTcar 358-Modified Series event. “We’ve been running pretty good on the series and we’ve been running good with the 358 up there weekly so hopefully that can translate into a good finish.”
