Mr. DIRTcar Champ Trail August Events

Weedsport, NYJuly 29, 2010 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director

The 2010 Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series begins its stretch run for teams contending for the elusive overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels titles in Big-Block Modified, 358-Modified, Sportsman Modified and Pro Stock classes.

The month of August begins and ends with a pair of Super DIRTcar Series shows for the mighty Big-Block Modifieds, with Pro Stockers getting back on track in the north country in between. 358-Modified and Sportsman Series travelers have the month open to prepare for their upcoming autumn assault.

Merrittville (Ont.) Speedway leads off the agenda with the inaugural Bob St. Amand Sr. Memorial 100 on Mon., Aug. 2 before returning stateside for the final 100-lapper of the month at Lebanon Valley Speedway, with the 32nd running of the Mr. DIRT Track, USA title event slated for Thr., Aug. 26 on the high banks.

Current Super DIRTcar Series points leader Matt Sheppard dominated the action last summer at Merrittville while Billy Decker took advantage of a blown rear-end on the car of leader Jimmy Phelps with just four laps to go en route to scoring the lucrative $17,500 victory in West Lebanon.

The region’s top Pro Stock chauffeurs make their seventh trip of the millennium to Mohawk Int’l Raceway on Sat., Aug. 21, doubling up with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series in the full-fender frenzy at the Akwesasne, N.Y. oval. Eventual Mr. DIRTcar points champion Pete Stefanski rallied to overtake race-long leader Jody Swamp with three to go and collect $1,500 in the 50-lap finale held last July.

Overall Hoosier-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar champions will be determined in 2010 by tabulating points earned in the Super DIRTcar Series for Big-Block Modifieds and the Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series for 358-Modified, Sportsman and Pro Stock teams, along with bonuses collected at a driver’s respective home track in divisional DIRTcar Regional Racing Series. Those valuable track bonus points will be issued after Labor Day with each licensed track champion receiving 1,000 points down to the 25th-place driver who earns 900 at his best track during the year.
