Rain that fell early in the afternoon made an untimely return Saturday evening at Mohawk Int’l Raceway forcing officials to postpone the Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Championship Series event until next month. The entire ‘Eastern Door 50’ Pro Stock Series show has been rescheduled for Wed., Sept. 1 and will join the World of Outlaws Late Model Series in the full-fender frenzy. Race time is 7 p.m.
Despite a brief shower dampening the Akwesasne oval at lunchtime and overcast skies failing to dissipate as evening approached, a solid field of 28 Pro Stock teams registered, featuring 16 of the Top-20 tour point chasers. Yet after a short practice session helped pack down the pristine 4/10-miler, a light rain that had begun to fall suddenly developed into a full-fledge downpour and the official announcement to cancel was made at 7:45 p.m.
The new mid-week date opens the door for additional teams to enter with four qualifying heat races already on the docket. Securing pole-position starts in the customary pre-race draw were Scott Kocher from nearby Waddington, N.Y., series front-runner Joey Ladouceur from Alexandria, Ont. and Frenchmen Ghislain Valade and Jocelyn Roy, who ranks as the runner-up to Louie Jackson on the current points chart after three tour starts.
Following the Mohawk make-up on Sept. 1, Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Series race chasers make their way to the high banks of Lebanon Valley Speedway on Sept. 11 for round #5 in New York State’s Capital District.

Among the fine field of 28 international entries signed in were a half-dozen drivers making their 2010 series debut, including Canadian chauffeurs Roch Aubin, his teammate Mikey Blais and William Adams, and Americans Jody Swamp, Billy Woodward Jr. and Kocher … Former Sportsman tour manager Denis Moquin moved into the roll of Interim Race Director for the Pro Stock Series as Director Brian Mulligan continues to recover from an operation in July to remove a tumor. Already the biggest month of the year for full-fender title contenders, September now opens on Sept. 1 with the return to Mohawk Int’l followed 10 days later by Lebanon Valley Speedway (9/11). The four-race stint in the Empire State closes out with trips to Canandaigua Speedway (Sept. 18) and Rolling Wheels Raceway Park (Sept. 25), with valuable track bonus points issued towards the overall Hoosier-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Championship after Labor Day Weekend.
