Weedsport, NY — October 4, 2009 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director
Serving Central New York since 1961, Terrell’s Potato Chip Company Inc. has become synonymous with sponsorship support of the DIRTcar Racing Northeast circuit. In the upcoming fall festival of speed, Terrell’s returns just as strong by posting $500 Pole and $250 Outside-Pole cash awards during the 38th running of Super DIRT Week at the New York State Fairgrounds.
With the rivalry reaching fever pitch this season, last October Pete Stefanski and Joey Ladouceur were the quickest from the stellar field of 52 full-fender entries that jammed the fairgrounds for their annual Salt City assault. Three-time overall Mr. DIRTcar Champion Stefanski sped around the Moody Mile in a time of 35.961 sec., which was just shy of the record tour mark of 35.898 sec. (100.284 mph) established by series points chaser Louie Jackson, who became the first Pro Stock pilot to surpass the 100 mph barrier in 2006. 2009 marks the fifth straight year that Pro Stock time trials will be run on the Syracuse Mile, having been held at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in nearby Elbridge, N.Y. from 1997-2004.
After sitting on the pole for a second straight year, Stefanski faded to fourth-place at the finish in the BNC Motorsports 25-lap title race while Ladouceur earned the outside-pole starting position with a one-lap best clocking of 26.010 seconds yet dropped to 25th in the main event.
Famous for its fresh potato chips, Terrell’s also provides dozens of other products for retail, wholesale and vending companies with those same items sold in many chain stores including Wegmans, Price Chopper, P&C Stores, Byrne Dairy, Eckerd, Great American, Grand Union and Tops. Terrell’s is also tied closely with the Dinosaur BBQ Restaurant chain in the development of new snack products, recently introducing the Terrell’s Dinosaur BBQ Potato Chip and Terrell’s Dinosaur BBQ Mojito Tortilla Chip.
Pro Stock racer Jack Terrell remains in charge of the company today, spearheading service to customers with 24 route trucks, two tractor trailers and one box truck. Supplying wholesalers for over 40 Years, Terrell’s covers most of New York State and also sells in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
