The DIRTcar Pro Stock Series returns to where the season started this weekend for its second and final stop at Albany-Saratoga Speedway.
A 30-lap, $2,000-to-win, battle is on tap for the top Pro Stock drivers in the Northeast on Saturday, Sept. 21, as part of Malta Massive Weekend.
The Series joins the Super DIRTcar Series for the weekend finale that serves as a Super DIRT Week preview with all four DIRTcar Northeast Series in action.
If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch all of the Super DIRTcar Series action on DIRTVision, either online or with the DIRTVision app.
Here’s a look at What to Watch For at Albany-Saratoga:
Three-Way Battle: With three races remaining in the 2024 DIRTcar Pro Stock Series championship chase, the top three drivers are separated by 18 points.
Four-time champion Pete Stefanski is at the top of the standings entering Albany-Saratoga, holding a 10-point lead over Brandon Emigh after a runner-up finish at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park.
The North Tonawanda, NY driver, who is also at the top of the Series all-time wins list, finished seventh during the last Series visit at Albany-Saratoga in May. He’s aiming for his first Series triumph at the “Great Race Place.”
Emigh, meanwhile, won the Series opener, and five more Features in 2024 at Albany-Saratoga. Those wins were enough to earn the Ballston Spa, NY driver second in the track’s points standings.
Jason Casey is 18 points behind Stefanski entering this weekend, with two top fives and four top 10s in four Series starts. While Steanski and Emigh have already found Victory Lane with the Series, Casey is still searching for his first Series triumph.
Beau Knows: While the top three drivers are contending for a championship, Beau Ballard is lurking behind them, 28 points out of the first.
Ballard is coming off a Series victory at Glen Ridge in August and backed it up by winning the Albany-Saratoga track championship.
He’s only finished outside the top 10 once in four Series starts in 2024 and finished fourth in the Series opener.
Elite 11: Since Byron Wescott won the first DIRTcar Pro Stock Series event at Albany-Saratoga in 2013, there have been 11 different Series winners at the 4/10-mile track.
Along with Emigh, four other drivers are expected to try and become the first two-time Series winner at the track.
Defending Series champion Luke Horning, Rich Crane, Chuck Dumblewski, and Rob Yetman have all reached Victory Lane at Albany-Saratoga in their careers.
For Crane and Dumblewski, a win would be their second Series triumph. If Horning wins, it’ll be his seventh Series win, while Yetman will earn his 18th, breaking a tie with Jipp Ortiz for third all-time.
