The quest for DIRTcar Sportsman Series regional titles continues this weekend, as drivers in the Central and West Regions prepare to battle in the Finger Lakes.

Both regions will take on Land of Legends Raceway in a combined event on Saturday, July 19, for a 30-lap Feature paying $1,000-to-win.

Following the Feature, the West Region champion will be crowned.

Joining the DIRTcar Sportsman Series at Land of Legends are the DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds, 305 Sprint Cars, Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks, and New Legends divisions.

Here’s a look at What to Watch for at Land of Legends:

The Best of the West: After races at Ransomville Speedway and Merrittville Speedway, Cody McPherson and Brett Senek are tied for the lead in the West Region.

However, McPherson will compete at Merrittville on Saturday night, putting Senek in the driver’s seat entering the weekend. With McPherson out, Senek has a 24-point lead over Dan Ferguson, who has two top 10s.

Senek, from Ransomville, NY, is searching for his fifth career Series win. He’s made two Series starts at Land of Legends, finishing second in 2020 and 21st in 2023.

Ferguson is yet to make a Series start at Land of Legends.

Leading the Central: Saturday’s Feature at Land of Legends is the fourth race for the Central Region in 2025, after stops at Weedsport Speedway, Brewerton Speedway, and Can-Am Speedway.

Gavin Eisele, who won at Weedsport, leads the Series standings by 12 points over Tyler Corcoran. He’s also returning to a track where he’s been successful.

The LaFargeville, NY driver finished fourth in this event in 2023, and second last year during the Gerald Haers Memorial. Eisele is searching for his fourth career Series win.

Corcoran, meanwhile, leads the points standings at Land of Legends this season with a win, six top fives, and eight top 10s at the track. The Central Square, NY driver also has eight career Series wins, with three of them coming at Land of Legends. Corcoran is aiming for his second win of the season, after taking the checkered flag at Can-Am during a North Region race in April.

Another driver within striking distance of Eisele is Fulton Speedway points leader Emmett Waldron, who is searching for his first career Series victory. The Savannah, NY driver has made three Series starts at Land of Legends in his career. His best finish was a fifth during the Gerald Haers Memorial last September.

Taking Down the Legends: Like any DIRTcar Sportsman Series event, driving chasing a regional championship will have to battle a stout group of home track regulars looking for the $1,000 prize.

That starts with Richard Murtaugh, who narrowly missed out on a win at Can-Am Speedway earlier this month. Murtaugh is a two-time winner at Land of Legends this season and has four top fives and eight top 10s at the track this season. The Fulton, NY driver is a three-time Series winner in his career, but only has one Series start at Land of Legends. He finished 11th in 2021.

Along with Corcoran, Karl Comfort, and Matt Guerreri are the only two other drivers with five top fives in the eight Features run at Land of Legends in 2025. Both drivers have reached Victory Lane this season, but Comfort has the edge over Guerreri due to one more top 10 finish.

Comfort is a three-time Series winner but has yet to win a Series event at Land of Legends.

Guerreri, meanwhile, scored his lone Series win at the track in 2021.
