The DIRTcar Sportsman Series North Region begins with a Friday night battle at Can-Am Speedway for the second straight season.
The “Nasty Track of the North” will host the first of its two North Region events on Friday, April 25, with drivers battling for 30 laps in a Feature paying $ 1,000 to win.
It’s also the opening night of weekly action for Can-Am, with the DIRTcar 358 Modifieds, 602 Crate Sprint Cars, ThunderCars, and Limited Sportsman joining the Sportsman.

Here are the storylines to watch at Can-Am:
Chasing the 0: Shane Pecore’s return to DIRTcar Sportsman competition in 2024 paid off by earning the North Region championship.
The Cornwall, ON driver, who also won the overall DIRTcar Sportsman Series title in 2016, was one of only two drivers earning a top five at Can-Am and Brockville Ontario Speedway last season.
Pecore enters the weekend with 12 DIRTcar Sportsman Series victories but is searching for his first Series win at Can-Am. His best Series finish at the track was second in September.
Can-Am Comes to Play: A stout field of Can-Am regulars are ready to contend for a North Region victory on Friday night. That list starts with Gavin Eisele, who finished second to Cody McPherson in the chase for the overall Series title last Fall.
Eisele finished second and sixth in the two DIRTcar Sportsman Series events at Can-Am last season and added wins at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park and Fulton during the championship season. In weekly action at Can-Am in 2024, Eisele went winless but earned 10 top fives and 11 top 10s in 13 starts.
Defending track champion Mike Fowler is aiming for his first Series victory this weekend at Can-Am, a track he won twice last season. The Fulton, NY driver only finished outside the top 10 twice in weekly competition and finished fourth during Can-Am’s Sportsman Series championship event in September.
Eric Nier, the winner of that September event, narrowly missed out on a track championship at Can-Am last year. He’s aiming for back-to-back wins in Series events at the track. The Carthage, NY driver had a win, six top fives, and 13 top 10s at Can-Am last season. He finished seventh in the regional opener in 2024.
Canadian Invaders: The North Region brings stars from the United States and Canada—something you see at Can-Am weekly.
Along with Pecore, Jessica Power and Brennan Moore are two other drivers representing Canada this weekend.
Power, from Kingston, ON, missed a regional title by 10 points in 2024. She earned six top fives and 11 top 10s in 13 starts at Can-Am last season. Power finished fourth in the North Region Series opener last Spring and 18th last Fall in the championship season event. She’s aiming for his second career Series win and first since 2022.
Moore, meanwhile, earned a top 10 during both Series stops at Can-Am in 2024. Like Power, the Elgin, ON driver had six top fives and 11 top 10s in 13 starts at Can-Am last year. While he didn’t reach Victory Lane, Moore finished second three times.
