The DIRTcar Sportsman Series North Region takes center stage this week, with three events culminating in the crowning of a champion.

A stop at Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville, NY, on Wednesday, July 2, kicks off the week with a 30-lap battle paying $1,000-to-win as part of the Pabst Shootout. This race will be a combined event with the Central Region, which is running its third race of 2025.

Then, the Series moves north on Saturday, July 5, for a visit to Brockville Ontario Speedway in Brockville, ON, for another $1,350-to-win (CAN) battle.

Finally, the Series returns to Cornwall Motor Speedway in Cornwall, ON, to make up the postponed Feature from June 1. Drivers who attend the event have an opportunity to race in a full racing program once the Feature is complete.

The event previously postponed from Autodrome Drummond on Saturday, May 31, will not  be rescheduled, meaning that the North Region champion will be crowned on Sunday.

Here are the key storylines entering Can-Am, Brockville, and Cornwall:

Aiming For Two Titles: Gavin Eisele can grab a significant advantage over his competition over the next month. The LaFargeville, NY driver has the chance to win both the North and Central Region titles and gain momentum heading into the championship season.

In the North Region, Eisele finished third at Can-Am in April and is currently second in points at the track behind Richard Murtaugh III.

However, he leads the Central Region points standings after winning at Weedsport Speedway in May and finishing second last Friday at Brewerton.

Eisele has three career Series victories entering the three-race week.

Star-Studded Shootout: Wednesday’s race at Can-Am will be the first of two DIRTcar Sportsman Series regional races that combine two regions. That means a star-studded field will be in attendance as drivers battle for the $1,000 prize.

The Pabst Shootout will be the second race of the season for the North region, and the second at the “Nasty Track of the North.” That event was also led by two Central Region drivers, Tyler Corcoran and Murtaugh.

Five of Corcoran’s seven Series victories have come at Can-Am, including two of the last three Series events at the track. The Central Square, NY driver is fourth in the Central region standings, 16 points behind Eisele.

Murtaugh, meanwhile, is searching for redemption at Can-Am after leading most of the last two events before being passed in the closing laps of each Feature. The Fulton, NY driver also led most of last Friday’s Feature at Brewerton Speedway before mechanical issues sidelined him.

Two other Central Region drivers to watch are Emmett Waldron and Jason Parkhurst Jr., who sit second and third in Series points.

Parkhurst is coming off his first career Series win on Friday at Brewerton, while Waldron has scored back-to-back top fives at Weedsport Speedway and Brewerton. The Savannah, NY driver also scored a victory at Fulton last Saturday and hasn’t finished outside the top five all season.

Surviving the Grind: Along with Eisele, North Region drivers will battle in three races in five days across the United States and Canada.

Bobby Herrington and Shane Pecore, who finished fourth and fifth, respectively, at Can-Am in April, are two drivers to keep an eye on throughout the week as the Series makes stops at their home tracks.

Despite having two wins at Brockville this season, Herrington currently trails Eisele in the track’s standings by 23 points. The Elginburg, ON driver is a three-time Series winner, with two of them coming at Brockville, including last October at the Fall Nationals.

He’s scheduled to start 16th in Sunday’s region finale.

Pecore, meanwhile, aims for his 13th career Series win this week and will try for back-to-back wins at Brockville in North Region competition.  The Cornwall, ON driver, who already has a win at Cornwall this season, will start sixth in Sunday’s Feature, next to Eisele, who starts fifth.
