Fulton, NY — October 2, 2009 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director
Rain showers throughout the Central New York region on Friday did not spare racers at Fulton Speedway, leaving track officials with no other option but to cancel the program that was set to kick off the first weekend in October.
The Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Championship Series event has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 4 to bring an end to the 24th edition of Fulton 200 Weekend.
Pit gates will swing open at 11am, grandstand seating begins at 12noon and practice starts at 1pm with heats going off the line at 2pm (subject to change pending the completion of Saturday’s’ program). The Fulton 200 program on Saturday is on as scheduled, same times.
Facing similar weather conditions last year after the conclusion of qualifying races, late arriving rain on Friday forced officials to re-schedule the Gater Racing News/Motorsports Expo 30 main event for Saturday morning. Just enough time for go-cart graduate Jeremy Wilder to take his first career checkered flag on tour to best a solid field of 71 DIRTcar Sportsman signed up last autumn.
