Weedsport, NY — Weedsport , NY – In 2010, Canandaigua Speedway will be debuting a new class among its season regulars as the BRP CanAm Late Models will take to the “Land of Legends” speedway for a seven race series; in addition to events at Cayuga County Fair Speedway and Rolling Wheels Raceway, further penetrating the series into the heart of racing in Central NY. Debuting the first weekend in May, the BRP CanAm Late Models will accompany the Big Block Modifieds, Sportsman Modifieds, and Pure Stocks for a night of exhilarating racing.
The BRP CanAm Late Model Series was founded in 2003 and since its inception; the series has quickly grown from 8 events in ’03 to an aggressive 13 events in 2009 with over 98 competitors vying for the points fund totaling $44,090. With 83 completed events under its belt, the BRP CanAm Late Model looks to make itself a household name with fans as racing enters into its eighth season of racing.
“This will give the BRP CanAm late model teams that have raced at Genesee Speedway in the past a place to race on Saturday night. I expect that the Genesee teams, some Black Rock teams, and several surprises will all jump on board with this program. The teams have really enjoyed their racing at Canandaigua Speedway in the past,” replied Gary Montgomery, BRP CanAm Late Model Series Director.
Canandaigua Speedway will be headlined by DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds and Sportsman Modifieds on a weekly basis. The DIRTcar Stock Cars, also known as Street Stocks, series will remain a fixture at Canandaigua Speedway in 2010 on a regular basis; with Pure Stocks and the BRP CanAm Late Models rounding out the regular competitors at the track.
Additionally, visits by 360 Sprint Cars, New York Modified Midgets, Midstate Vintage Stock Car Club, and other special events will be on the schedule. Extra Distance races will be featured for different divisions throughout the season as well.
