Season suspended after promoter breaches lease agreement
WEEDSPORT, N.Y. – July 19, 2011 – Promoter Eric Kingsley has breached his agreement to operate The New Cayuga County Speedway, which has led to the
suspension of the track’s 2011 schedule.
As part of the agreement between Kingsley and leaseholder World Racing Group, the speedway was to continue operating under DIRTcar-sanctioned rules as
it has for more than 30 years. Kingsley recently ran a Sportsman Modified event without adhering to DIRTcar rules and indicated his intention to
continue running non-DIRTcar events, breaching his contract to operate the speedway.
“It was a pretty simple agreement between Eric Kingsley and World Racing Group,” said WRG President Tom Deery. “We agreed to lease the facility to Mr.
Kingsley at a very reduced rate, and as long as it operated as a DIRTcar facility there were zero issues, but Eric decided to intentionally violate the
terms of his contract and thereby end his opportunity to run the speedway.”
Announcements on future events at the track will be forthcoming.
DIRTcar points for the events run at the speedway will be maintained and rewarded toward the Mr. DIRTcar Safety-Kleen championships (both Big-Block and
Sportsman Modified) as well as the ‘home track’ bonus points in regard to the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified and the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified
Series.
