Clint Demoss Captures American Modified Series JB Salvage, Inc. 30 at Bloomington Speedway

American Modified SeriesBloomington, IN- July 8, 2011- The American Modified Series would make its second appearance of 2011 at Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN on Friday evening and Clint Demoss of Bloomington, IN would take home the victory in the JB Salvage, Inc. 30 at the historic ¼ mile semi-banked red clay oval promoted by Mike and Judy Miles that has been in operation since 1923.

Chad Combs and Clint Demoss would bring the 22 car starting field to the green flag, with Demoss jumping to the race lead from his outside starting spot, but caution would wave before one lap was completed for a wreck between Combs and Bryan Barber in turn three.  The restart would again see Demoss jump to the top spot, while Michael England would work his way to second until the caution waved again for a spin by fifth place running Brian Yeatman in turn two that would see Yeatman’s night be finished.  This restart would again see Demoss jump away from the field by about five car lengths.  The front five in the race would remain the same until the final caution of the race flew for a spin by Bryan Barber on lap 13, with Barber pulling pitside.  The final 18 circuits of the race would be caution free, with Demoss holding the point, while England and 7th place starting John Demoss would battle for the runner-up position.  Clint Demoss would see the double checkered flags of chief starter Rusty Nunn first aboard the Erwin and Rachel Cooper owned Victory Lane Quick Oil Change/Sowder’s Lawn and Landscape/Rachel Cooper Racing Enterprises/Erwin’s Drywall sponsored #78c Diamond Race Cars, Travis Kern Race Engines powered mount.  Demoss receives product support from Landrum Performance Springs and Willy’s Carbs.

Michael England of Glasgow, KY would take runner-up honors, with John Demoss of Bloomington, IN finishing third.  Series points leader Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN would score a fourth place effort, while hard charger of the race Bradley Sterrett of Bloomington, IN would complete the top five after starting 14th.  The remainder of the top ten would be Chad Combs of Bloomington, IN, Kelly Warren of Columbia, KY, 15th place starting Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY, 17th place starting Richie Lex of Morgantown, IN, and Jacoby Hines of Ninevah, IN.  The event would be slowed by three cautions and would take 15 minutes and 51 seconds to complete.

In preliminary action, Shelby Miles was the Williams Precision Engines Top Qualifier among 25 entries at 13.339 seconds.  Chad Combs would win Hypercoil Springs heat one, while Michael England won Wiles Driveshafts heat two.  Clint Demoss would take VP Racing Fuels heat three and Bryan Barber would score Comp Cams heat four.  Richie Lex would win Racing Head Service B-Main #1, while Robert Gullion would take the victory in Comp Cams B-Main #2.

The next scheduled event for the American Modified Series will be the second race of the Bob Poynter Auto Group Hoosier State Challenge on Saturday July 9 at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN for the Boknecht Trucking 30.  The Bob Poynter Auto Group Hoosier State Challenge will pay the top five point netters that weekend a $1,000 total point fund ($300, $250, $200, $150, and $100).  The event will pay $1,500 to win.
