Ponderosa Speedway to Host AMS UMP Modifieds for $3,000-to-win July 23

American Modified SeriesJUNCTION CITY, Ky. — Ponderosa Speedway track promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz will return with racing action at the 3/8-mile D-shaped clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” on Friday July 23 as the American Modified Series presented by Force Fuel and Engine Conditioner visits for the Sixth Annual Summer Shootout, paying $3,000-to-win for UMP Modifieds.

On Friday, July 23, the American Modified Series presented by Force Fuel and Engine Conditioner will be in action at Ponderosa Speedway in a full program of practice, A-B Group time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 30-lap, $3,000 to win Sixth Annual Summer Shootout A-Main event. Also on the July 23 racing program in weekly racing series competition will be the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models for $1,000 to win, Bob Allen Motor Mall Pro Late Models for $600 to win, and the D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman for $300 to win.

Activities for the July 23 event at Ponderosa Speedway will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the Grandstand area open at 5:00 p.m. A mandatory drivers meeting takes place at 6:45 p.m., with practice set for 7:00 p.m. Time trials will begin at 7:30 p.m., with racing taking the green flag at 8:30 p.m. Ticket prices for July 23 in the general admission area will be $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and children under age 6 are free. A pit pass will be $35.

The A-Main purse for the July 23 Ponderosa Speedway event is as follows: 1st- $3,000, 2nd- $2,000, 3rd- $1,500, 4th- $1,000, 5th- $800, 6th- $700, 7th- $600, 8th- $575, 9th- $550, 10th- $525, 11th- $500, 12th- $400, 13th- $350, 14th- $300, 15th- $275, 16th through 24th- $250 to start.

The Summer Shootout for Modifieds first appeared on the Ponderosa Speedway schedule in 2005 and Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN would win the 2005 and 2006 editions of the race. Shon Flanery of Church Hill, TN would be the winner of the 2007 race, while Don Adams of London, KY would take the victory in the 2008 event. Jason Wheatley of Loretto, KY was the 2009 Summer Shootout winner and is the defending race champion of the event.

Ponderosa Speedway is located just off of 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, Ky., just minutes from Danville, Ky. Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz are the track promoters and present dirt track sports entertainment on Friday evenings from April through early October.
