Canadian/American North Country Doubleheader!

The DIRTcar 358 Modified Series continues the 2019 campaign at Cornwall Motor Speedway and Mohawk Int’l Raceway

WEEDSPORT, NY – July 12, 2019 – The DIRTcar 358 Modified Series gets back to business with a special Sunday/Monday cross-border doubleheader. On Sunday, July 14 the Series checks in to Cornwall Motor Speedway, a quarter-mile high-banked bullring where the action never stops. Then on Monday, July 15, the team teams come back stateside to Mohawk Int’l Raceway. The points race is tight at the top so every pass and position is extremely valuable.

Great car counts are expected at both events and they’ll all be aiming for the man at the top: Mat Williamson in his family-owned No. 6 DIRTcar 358 Modified. Williamson has one win and a third so far in 2019 Series action. Despite the finishes, Williamson is only five points ahead of Erick Rudolph.

Rudolph is always tough in DIRTcar 358 Modified competition. Last year’s Series Championship came down to the final race at the Northeast Fall Nationals at Brockville Ontario Speedway where Larry Wight barely edged him out to win.

Mike Mahaney, in his new colors, rides in third place in the points standings. He’ll be looking to take over that top spot with the lead. Mahaney races his DIRTcar 358 Modified weekly at Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway when he’s not with the Super DIRTcar Series.

Dave Marcucilli isn’t new to racing but he’s certainly new to 358 Modifieds. He sits in fourth place, just outside of the coveted top three,

Corey Wheeler leads the Hoosier Racing Tire Weekly Championship points at Cornwall Motor Speedway. Wheeler is in eighth place and needs to string a couple of solid finishes together to get up to the top five.

Veteran superstar Tim Fuller leads the way in points at Mohawk Int’l Speedway. Fuller took the first Series race of 2019 at Can-Am Speedway for his first checkered flag of the year. There is no doubt that Fuller is the one to beat at Mohawk.

Other drivers to watch are Danny Johnson, Bobby Herrington, Michael Parent, Chris Raabe, and many more. This year’s DIRTcar 358 Modified Series is one of the most competitive and exciting editions of the Series in years. You do not want to miss the action.
