Guaranteed Syracuse spot for 358 Mods up for grabs at Ransomville

Battle of the Border July 1 is a DIRTcar 358 Modified Starter Series event

WEEDSPORT, N.Y. – June 28, 2015 – The highest 358 Modified finisher in Ransomville Speedway’s 6th Annual Battle of the Border Wednesday, July 1 – a combination Big-Block and 358 Modified race paying $5,200-to-win – will become the fourth driver this season to earn a guaranteed spot in the Super DIRT Week XLIV 358 Modified 150 at Syracuse Fairgrounds October 10.

Erick Rudolph of Ransomville, N.Y. Billy Dunn of Watertown, N.Y. and David Hebert of St. Damase, QC, have already secured starting spots at Syracuse by having won designated 358 Modified Starter Series races at Merrittville, Mohawk and Le RPM respectively.

Rudolph is the defending DIRTcar 358 Modified Series champion.

In 2015, the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series champion will be decided by the aggregate of a three-pronged point system. One component is “home track” bonus points earned by drivers’ standings in their home track points chase (positions 1-25; seven-race minimum participation). To be eligible for the 2015 crown, a driver must have a “home track”.

The bonus points are standardized, not numerically equivalent to the actual regular season track points earned. For example, the high-point driver at each Starter Series track earns the same amount of bonus points (1,000) as the high-point driver at another track.

Eight tracks are designated as “Starter Series” tracks – Granby, Drummond, Le RPM, Brockville-Ontario, Cornwall, Mohawk International, Ransomville and Merrittville.

Drivers add to their overall 358 Modified Series point total with their three best finishes in Starter Series events such as Ransomville’s “Battle of the Border”. Points are also earned at each of the 358 Modified Fall Series events beginning with the Jiffy Auto Service DIRTcar Triple Crown event at Cornwall Speedway September 6.

Autodrome Granby has 358 Modified Starter Series events scheduled for July 3 and July 10. The July 10 event is a guaranteed Syracuse qualifier race.

Mohawk International Raceway in Hogansburg, NY, has a 358 Modified Starter Series event Friday, July 3

In 2015, the Syracuse 150 is not a 358 Modified Series point race.
