Mr. DIRTcar Bonus Points On The Line For CNY 358-Modified Contenders

Weedsport, NYMarch 17, 2009 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director

Central New York Modified teams competing in the Small-Block class to earn valuable points towards the overall DIRTcar crown will no longer have to travel. At least on the weekend from their customary home track.

Beginning with the 2009 season-openers, sister tracks Brewerton Speedway (April 17) and Fulton Speedway (April 25), and Cayuga County Fair Speedway (April 19) will be offering home track bonus points towards the coveted Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Championship.

DIRTcar Racing Northeast Director of Competition & Track Sanctioning Cory Reed, Cayuga County General Manager Jack Deery and Art Halliday, promoter of both Brewerton and Fulton, agreed this is a great way to support area 358-Modified teams and keep them coming back.

“Wherever someone finishes in the Modified feature is where that driver will be placed when it comes to collecting points, they key here is participation,” Halliday noted. “Although we won’t officially declare a 358-Modified Champion at the end of our season, we still want to afford our regular runners who choose to travel the tour a legitimate shot at winning the title.”

In order to qualify for DIRTcar 358-Modified points, a driver must run a minimum of six (6) feature races either at Brewerton (Fri.), Fulton (Sat.) or Cayuga County (Sun.).
