Rain Washes Out Saturday Series Show At Can-Am

CanAm Motorsports ParkLaFargeville, NYApril 16, 2010 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director

The 2010 Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Championship Series opener scheduled at Can-Am Speedway & Motorsports Park on Saturday, April 17 has been cancelled due to rain.

Also highlighting the Can-Am agenda tomorrow was round two on the Hoosier-VP Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman champ trail. While the 358-Modified event will not be rescheduled, the Sportsman tour stop is now the $2,000-to-win SUNY Canton Championship slated for Wed., Oct. 6 during Super DIRT Week.

The 2010 Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series lid-lifter for Pro Stocks remains on course for Sunday with pit gates swinging open at 10 a.m., grandstand seating starting at 11:30 a.m. and practice beginning at 1 p.m. An early evening decision will be made Saturday regarding that program if inclement weather persists in the north country.

“We just got no break with the weather, hopefully temperatures will rise and the skies can clear over the weekend,” stated Can-Am Race Director Chip Burdick, after wet grounds forced track and series officials to make the early decision and drop Can-Am’s Small-Block lead-off show for the second straight year. The Super DIRT Week special on tap last October at the LaFargeville (NY) layout was also scrapped due to rain.

Racing in the Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Series resumes next month when Merrittville Speedway hosts the new opener on Monday, May 24. Top Small-Block drivers will be after the $4,000 first-place prize posted in the Victoria Day 100-lapper presented by Zavitz Financial Strategies & Employee Benefits at the popular Thorold, Ontario oval. More race day news can be found on the track site at www.merrittvillespeedway.com.

Sportsman Series action picks up the first month of summer when Cornwall Motor Speedway stages the second installment on Sun., June 13. A complete track schedule is available by logging into www.cornwallspeedway.com.
