Airborne SpeedwayWeedsport, NYAugust 3, 2008 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing NorthEast PR Director

The entry list continues to grow for the Akwesasne Casino Big-Block/Small-Block Shootout on Wednesday, August 6 at Airborne Speedway.

The current field for the 75-lap $3,000-to-win DIRTcar Modified event already includes invaders Tim McCreadie, Frank Cozze, Todd Stone, Keith Flach, Wayne Jelley, Vince Quenneville Jr., Bobby Santos III and Erica Santos.

“The show went really well last year and we’re looking forward to the same kind of support next week,” said Airborne Promoter Mike Perrotte, who lured a solid 26-car field in the DIRTcar/Asphalt experiment conducted last July. Mike Bruno led the entire 40-lap main event that showcased a sweep of the top-three spots by Airborne regulars George Foley and Patrick Dupree.

Ernie’s Tools Modified points leader Mike Bruno, Dupree, defending track champion Foley, recent winners Martin Roy and Jason Durgan, Leon Gonyo and Aaron Bartemy will be among the Airborne regulars ready to go up against the outsiders in the second annual Shootout.

The Airborne event will be governed by the 2008 Official DIRTcar NorthEast Rule Book outlined for both the Big-Block Modified and 358-Modified divisions. New this year is that only DIRT Hoosier Hard or Extra Hard tire compounds will be allowed.

The main gates open Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. with post time slated for 7 o’clock. Admission is $15 adults, $3 kids 6-12, $30 family of four (2 adults, 2 kids 6-12).
