Five years have passed since the Big-Block Modifieds from the Northeast Super DIRTcar Series last circled The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

A return engagement to the nationally acclaimed North Carolina oval will be the biggest yet as they contend for the overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Championship in the 4th Annual Lowes Foods World Finals Presented by Bimbo Bakeries and Tom’s Snacks on Nov. 4-6.

With pit gates opening Wednesday for early entrance, 25 race teams filed in behind the backstretch wall led by the haulers of series point leaders Matt Sheppard, Jimmy Phelps, Billy Decker, Brett Hearn and Danny Johnson. Transporters of Top-10 tour stars Dale Planck, Billy Dunn, Tom Sears Jr. and Larry Wight plus Alan Johnson and Rich Scagliotta paraded past on an overcast afternoon in the Tar Heel state.

SEF Small Engines Fuels 200 champion Stewart Friesen also arrived by dinner time and was joined by Lebanon Valley travelers Donnie Corellis and Keith Flach, Fonda front runner Matt DeLorenzo, Orange County regulars Chris Shultz and Bob McGannon, Planck’s teammate Carey Terrance, and Gary Tomkins back aboard the Ray Tuit-owned #673 mount.

Additional entries included Randy Chrysler, David VanHorn Jr., Billy Pauch Jr., brothers Mark and Ryan Forte, along with Central New York transplant Chris Higgins now towing in from Raleigh, N.C.

The Lowes Foods World Finals Presented by Bimbo Bakeries and Tom’s Snacks kicks off on Thurs., Nov. 4, with two sets of heat races scheduled for the Big-Block Modifieds (one for Friday’s program, one for Saturday’s card) and two rounds of time trials for the WoO Sprint Cars and Late Models. The Modifieds will compete in consolation events on both Friday and Saturday to complete the fields for each evening’s 40-lap features. Saturday’s racing program will also be broadcast live on SPEED starting at 8 p.m. ET.

Tickets for the Lowes Foods World of Outlaws World Finals can be obtained by logging on to www.charlottemotorspeedway.com or calling 1-800-455-FANS. Three-day packages are available for the bargain price of $69.
