Quick, Greene, McBride, Brown Win Pro Late Model Heat Races at World Short Track Championship

Pro Late Models race at The Dirt Track at Charlotte

The field is set for Saturday’s Fox Factory Pro Late Models Feature at the World Short Track Championship, as four drivers earned wins in Friday’s Heat Races at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

Colby Quick, Ricky Greene, Jamison McBride, and Dillon Brown each won their Heat Races to better their chances of winning on Saturday.

HEAT RACE 1

Colby Quick outran Jordan Koehler to Turn 1, taking the lead on Lap 1 and holding on to win the first of four Fox Factory Pro Late Model Heat Races.

While Quick, from Salisbury, NC, drove away from the field, Jacob Brown tried to dive under Koehler to take away the runner-up spot but fell short.

Koehler finished second, while Jeremy Steele passed Brown late in the race to finish third. However, Brown transferred into Saturday’s Feature, crossing the line fourth.

HEAT RACE 2

Ricky Greene wasted no time putting himself in position to win the second of Friday’s four Heat Races, leading every lap to score the win.

Matt Long and Dalton Jacobs battled for second behind Greene, but neither had a chance at catching the Newton, NC driver.

Long held on for second, Jacobs third, and Elba, NY driver David Pangrazio made the most of his trip south by getting the final transfer spot.

HEAT RACE 3

Like the first two Fox Factory Pro Late Model Heat Races, Jamison McBride led every lap to score the win in dominating fashion.

However, many positions changed behind him as Jody Knowles worked through the field from his seventh starting position.

Knowles moved five spots to finish second, passing Cody Cubbage for the runner-up position on Lap 7.

Cubbage held on for third, while Justin Hudspeth grabbed the final transfer spot after passing Benji Hicks on the last lap.

HEAT RACE 4

The fourth and final Fox Factory Pro Late Model Heat Race saw a familiar face take the checkered flag—2021 Champion Dillon Brown.

From Gaffney, SC, Brown thundered away from the field on Lap 1 and went unchallenged throughout the race to score the win.

Another South Carolina driver, Trent Ivey, dove under Thursday’s Championship Feature winner Stephen Pedulla to take second away but couldn’t get to Brown before the end of the race.

Behind Brown and Ivey, Pedulla crossed the line third, while Joey Johnson finished fourth after facing challenges from Brock Pinkerous and Shawn Martin.

Layton Sullivan and Benji Hicks each scored Last Chance Showdown wins, helping set the field for Saturday’s 30 lap Feature.

UP NEXT: The Fox Factory Pro Late Models return on Saturday, Oct. 28 for their 30 lap Feature to wrap up the seventh annual World Short Track Championship at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
