Barberville, FL — Brett Hearn fought off Billy Pauch in Advance Auto Parts Big Block Modified action while Josh Richards held off Billy Moyer in the season opener of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series as the action was fast and intense on Thursday night’s Round 9 of the 37th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.
Hearn started the night with a thrilling victory to make himself eligible for the Alltel All-Star competition while Richards was able to cool off Moyer and get himself into the contest. Now it’s up to the fans. Hearn has been one of the hottest Big Block Modified drivers the past two years, earning the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series title in 2007 as he aims to reclaim the Florida Tour crown once again.

Richards is one of the rising stars in Dirt Late Model racing. Not only is he a contender for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series at only 19 years old, but he’s also a crew chief for Tony Stewart when the NASCAR star drives on dirt.
