Coors Clay Cup Coming Up Next To Willamette Speedway

By Ben Deatherage

Lebanon, Oregon- Fans of Willamette Speedway will see two things this coming Saturday August 18th.  One is that all five regular divisions will be back in action and the other is the return of the annual Coors Clay Cup.  The DirtCar Super Late Models, USRA Modifieds, Sportsman, Classic Sportsman, and Mini Truck will all be in action for the fans awaiting the latest installment of the 2012 campaign.

John Duty earned his second DirtCar Super Late Model main event win of the year last Saturday joining both Trevor Glaser and Russ Sell as a multi-feature winner this season.  Glaser however leads the classification with three victories compared to Sell and Duty’s two.  Casey Vital, Rob Mayea, and Jeremy Shank are the only other winners after ten events.

The USRA Modifieds are back after a week off and Kyle Yeack looks to add more wins to his already impressive season.  Yeack has three total wins this year which includes one non-point victory which he earned in June.  Justin Evans has produced two victories while Mark Wauge, Jesse Williamson, Craig Cassell, and Dustin Dittman have won once this year.  Ken Schrader managed to earn the victory in the non-point Wild Wild West Modified Shootout feature back in June.

In the Sportsman division Danny Altom’s car has thus far visited victory lane on five occasions.  Altom himself has earned a total of four triumphs three of which are point victories and the most recent being last weekend.  Justin Dittman goes into this weekend with three wins and Brian Winkler has amassed two over the course of this year as well.  Todd Miller and Brian Smith are the only other winners this year with them having one win each.

Kyle Yeack at this moment has owned the Classic Sportsman classification lately.  In his last seven starts he has won five races in the class including the Iron Giant Challenge earlier this month.  All other winners have only won once this year which is a list that includes J.J. Irvine, Adam Walker, Erik Jarnport, and Kevin Roberts.

Scott Lehman continues to lead most wins this season in Mini Truck action.  Lehman extended his lead with three wins so far in 2012.  Mark Vonsild is the only other multi-feature winner with Jeremy Stinnett and Tim Baker both earning one win each.
