UMP DIRTcar:

Outlaws Come to Town: The Tri-State Challenge featuring the World of Outlaws Late Model Series rolls into UMP DIRTcar Late Model country this Memorial Day Weekend.

Some of UMP DIRTcar’s best Super Late Model drivers – including two-time defending national champion Dennis Erb Jr. and rising star Jason Feger – are set to duke it out with the best from the World of Outlaws Late Model Series during the three-race Midwest swing, which showcases events in Missouri, Iowa and Wisconsin.

U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., starts the ‘Tour de Midwest’ on Fri., May 22, followed by 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, on Sat., May 23, and Charter Raceway Park in Beaver Dam, Wis., on Sun., May 24. SLS Promotions has posted a $10,000 bonus for a driver who can win two of the three events that make up the Tri-State Late Model Challenge, which will be contested using the UMP DIRTcar Hoosier tire rule.

Not only will the UMP DIRTcar Late Model drivers have to battle the Outlaws during the weekend, but the field each night will also include NASCAR veteran Kenny Schrader, who’s known for racing anything, anytime, anywhere.

DIRTcar Western Region:

Start Me Up: The DIRTcar Northwest I-5 Late Model Tour kicks off for the 2009 season this season with a tripleheader weekend.

Cottage Grove (Ore.) Speedway will host the series on Friday and Saturday (May 22-23), with Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore., closing the weekend with an event on Sunday night (May 24).

The new DIRTcar-sanctioned series offers the Northwest’s Super Late Model drivers the opportunity to compete for national and regional UMP DIRTcar Racing points and points-fund cash under common rules provided by the DIRTcar Racing organization.

The tour currently shows 12 dates, including Skagit Speedway in Burlington, Wash., Sunset Speedway Park in Banks, Ore., and Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, Ore.

Primo Parker: Arizona’s Lonnie Parker Jr. is quite used to winning, which is easy to understand when you look at his 50-plus career wins on the DIRTcar-sanctioned Southwest Dirt Racing Association Super Late Model tour (SWDRA) and five series titles.

What’s more impressive about Parker is the dominance he’s displayed recently when taking to the track.

Consider” Parker has captured four of the first five events of the 2009 SWDRA schedule, only being interrupted by local Modified stalwart Anthony Madrid, who won the final Late Model race ever run at his hometrack, Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix. It’s an impressive start, but Parker did the same thing in 2008, capturing the first six of seven SWDRA events en route to a championship and nine overall wins.

Can Parker match his 2008 success? Find out when the tour picks back up this weekend at Canyon Speedway Park in Phoenix, with a doubleheader scheduled for May 23 and 24. Both races will pay $1,000 to win.

Gates open at 5 p.m. each night and racing action picks up at 7 p.m. for the KDG Memorial.

UMP Western Modifieds at USA Raceway Park: UMP DIRTcar Western Modified drivers are starting to show their prominence within the overall UMP DIRTcar national points landscape.

This week the racers will have another chance to gather points when the division races at USA Raceway Park in Tucson, Ariz., this weekend on May 23 and 24.

USA Raceway Park has a full slate of racing action to support the DIRTcar Western Modifieds, with racing action set for 7 p.m. both evenings.
