Pontoon Beach, IL (September 18th, 2009) Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, WI picked up the $7,000 top prize as he claimed the victory in the Dodge Ram 50 at Tri-City Speedway! Randy Korte started on the pole and took command at the drop of the green flag. Korte would lead the first forty-one laps of the fifty lap event before Mars would chase him down and the two would battle for the lead. Mars would use the low side to pull along side Korte while Korte would slingshot past Mars down the straight away using his momentum from the highside. Mars would finally clear Korte and lead the final five laps enroute to the win. Throughout most of the event while Korte held the top spot, Rick Eckert, Billy Moyer, Wendell Wallace and Jimmy Mars put on a tremendous battle for the second through fifth positions. In the end, it was Korte taking second behind Mars with Moyer making a late race pass on Eckert to take third. Matt Miller moved in late in the race to take fifth behind Eckert.
Randy Korte wasn’t to be denied in the other two classes that were on hand as he swept the UMP DIRTcar Modified and UMP DIRTcar Pro Late Model events. A stellar field of forty-eight UMP DIRTcar Modifieds were on hand for the big event and it was Korte taking the $1,000 payday. Michael Long took the early lead on the opening lap and paced the first nine laps before Korte got past him. The two would battle for several laps before Korte finally opened up a small lead and go on to take the win. Long would take second with Marty Smith, Jr. finishing third. Mike Harrison would cross the line fourth with Ray Walsh completing the top five.
Korte would dominate the UMP Pro Late Model event as it went the entire twenty lap distance without a caution. Korte pulled out to nearly a half-track lead before the checkered flag fell. Dustin Griffin would finish second. Bobby Dauderman made a last lap pass on Mark Oller to take the third spot while Clay Baumann finish fifth behind Oller.
