Paducah, KY — The season will officially begin Friday evening, March 28, with the appearance of two major NASCAR stars. Tony Stewart and Ken Schrader, both business partners in Paducah International Raceway, will be competing in the Late Model division.
The engines will roar back to life, the dirt will fly, and the cars will broadslide around PIR in the first night of competition for 2008. Defending Champions Kevin Cole, Justin Houston, Jeff Walston, Darrell Hartman, and Jeffrey Bailey will lead the Late Models, Modifieds, Crate Late Models, Street Stocks, Warriors, and Vintage Racers into battle as the curtain goes up on another season of high-bankin’ dirt-trackin’.
All on-track action will take place in front of PIR’s twenty unique new Luxury Suites. This year, selected PIR spectators and sponsors will enjoy one of the nation’s premiere short track hospitality facilities.
NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Ken Schrader, and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005. Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of Co-Owners as a partner in September of 2006. In 2008 the 3/8th mile high-banked oval will host several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, the USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge. Paducah International Raceway races every Friday night and is located off Interstate 24 at exit 11 in Paducah, Kentucky.
