Paducah International Raceway Gets Ready for Biggest Night of the Season

Paducah International RacewayPaducah, KY — It’s the biggest night of weekly racing this season at PIR – jam packed with excitement and the biggest star of NASCAR! PIR is preparing to host motorsports’ biggest star, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., at the second NASCAR Night of Stars this Friday, April 25. Dale Jr. is very excited to be coming home to his local dirt track that he and his partners purchased to see the local drivers and fans.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a third generation driver in a family forever connected to the sport of stock-car racing, and while his innate ability behind the wheel comes from Earnhardt DNA, his competitive driving style and keen business sense is all his own. His flare for originality and common-sense charisma has helped propel him to one of the most popular figures in sports. Race fans have selected him five times as the winner of NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver award, joining Richard Petty and Bill Elliott as the only drivers to win the award five consecutive seasons since 1956. Dale Jr. made the move to Hendrick Motorsports and AMP Energy Racing as he takes the wheel of the No. 88 Mountain Dew AMP/National Guard Impala SS in the Sprint Cup Series where Dale Jr. currently sits at number three in points.

The “Junior Nation” will be treated to an autograph session and the PIR Novelty Stand will be well-stocked with Dale Jr. merchandise.

Ticket windows and gates will open at 3 PM. Racing begins at 7:30 PM. Tickets which already have been reserved may be picked up beginning at 10 AM at the “Will Call Window”. Reserved seats are available by calling Paducah International Raceway during regular business hours. Adult grandstand admissions are $25, children 12 and under are $5.

A six-division racing program is on tap with heats and features for the UMP Super Late Models, Modifieds, Pro (Crate) Late Models, and Street Stocks, along with the 4-cylinder Warriors and Vintage Racers. Because of the special nature of the evening’s festivities, the Super Late Model winner will receive $1500 and the Modified driver taking the checkered flag first receives $600.

NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Ken Schrader, and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005. Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of co-owners as a partner in September of 2006. In 2008 the 3/8th mile high-banked oval will host several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights of Stars, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, the USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge. PIR races every Friday night and is located off Interstate 24 at exit 11 in Paducah, Kentucky. For more information call the PIR hotline at (270) 448-4PIR or the track at (270) 898-SHOW (7469).
