Pevely, MO — Rain showers that started overnight and continued through the morning and afternoon hours in Pevely, Mo., have forced the cancellation of what was set to be the 19th leg of the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals at I-55 Raceway. The rainout comes after the 2008 version of the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals were cancelled due to flooding at the high banked third-mile track.
No makeup was immediately announced for the 40-lap, $10,000-to-win race, although UMP DIRTcar and track officials were discussing possible makeup dates.
The rainout was the fourth of the 2009 version of the “Hell Tour”.
The UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals Tour is set to resume Sunday night July 5th at Vermillion County (Ill.) Speedway for a 40-lap $6,000 to win event.
Randy Korte of Highland, Ill., holds a slim four point lead over defending champion Dennis Erb with six races remaining on the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour.
