Lebanon, Oregon- It’s that time of the year again and it has come surprisingly early to the Willamette Speedway. After completing three races in 2012 the annual prestigious Strawberry Cup presented by Napa Auto Parts will take place on Saturday June 2nd. The weekend will open up with the 2012 season opener for the Kart program on Friday June 1st.
The first race of the season for the Karts will feature the upcoming racing talent competing under the lights in the infield of the larger track. For Karts Pit Gates open at 4:00 while racing starts approximately at 6:45. Ticket prices are General Admission is $5 and Pit Passes are $10.
Saturday’s Strawberry Cup presented by Napa Auto Parts will feature DirtCar Late Models, USRA Modifieds, Sportsman, Classic Sportsman, and Mini Trucks. Two dollars off admission will be discounted for any spectator bringing with them a can of non-perishable food. Regular admission to the event is the following prices: Adults $14.00, Seniors (62 and Over) $12.00, Children (12 and Under) $6.00, and Pit Passes $25.00. The pit gate opens at noon while general admission gates open at 2:00. Qualifying is scheduled for 3:00 while racing should be getting started around 6:00.
In the DirtCar Super Late Models that last three years has had three different winners and since the year 2000 there have been nine different winners. Trevor Glaser is the defending champion of the race and has four career Strawberry Cup victories and is the only driver in the last twelve years to win more than once. Other drivers that have won the race since the year 2000 have been: Randy Boyd, Bruce Hipple, Tim Zeller, Greg Walters, Jimmy Whisler, Jeremy Shank, Craig Hanson, and Rick Wyatt.
