Ryan Thomas Takes American Modified Series Boknecht Trucking 30 at Brownstown Speedway

American Modified SeriesBrownstown, IN- July 9, 2011- The American Modified Series would complete the Bob Poynter Auto Group Hoosier State Challenge on Saturday evening at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN and Ryan Thomas of Martinsville, IN would take the victory in the Boknecht Trucking 30 at the historic Jackson County Fairgrounds ¼ mile facility promoted by Tim Keithley.  With the victory, Thomas becomes the first repeat winner with the tour in 2011.

Polesitter Chad Kinder would race to the early lead in the Boknecht Trucking 30 and would cruise for the first three laps, with Joey Kramer pulling alongside Kinder on lap 5.  A trio of cautions would slow the action between laps 6 and 8, with Kramer actually going to the race lead, only to see the caution flag void the pass.  However, Kramer would not be denied and would take the race lead on a lap 8 restart and would maintain a comfortable lead until Ryan Thomas began flexing his muscle and would close right in on Kramer on lap 17.  The pair would race hard and side-by-side for the lead, contacting each other exiting turn four on lap 19.  But disaster would strike Kramer as he would spin his mount in the center of turns three and four on lap 21 and would not be a factor for the remainder of the race, as he would suffer bent right front suspension parts.  After a spin by Derek Groomer and Bryan Barber that was deemed a safety caution and neither car stopped on the track with restarting where they were running, Thomas would cruise through the middle of the race surface over the final 8 laps to pick up his second series win of the season in his Indiana Stone Works/Diamond Race Cars/Allen Race Engines/Troy Truck and Tire/Indiana Decal Company/Integra Shocks sponsored #T9 Diamond Race Car powered by a John Allen Race Engine.

Hard charger of the event Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY would take runner-up honors, while Chad Kinder of Newton, IL would claim a third place finish.  John Demoss of Bloomington, IN would take over the series points lead with a fourth place finish, with Richie Lex of Morgantown, IN completing the top five after starting 10th.  The remainder of the top ten would be 13th starting Clint Demoss of Bloomington, IN, J.T. Ayers of New Haven, KY, Jacoby Hines of Ninevah, IN, 17th starting Earl Plessinger of Seymour, IN, and 19th starting David Baldwin of Perrysville, IN.  The race would be slowed by eight caution periods and take 33 minutes and 1 second to complete.

In preliminary action, Paul Miles was the Williams Precision Engines Top Qualifier among 46 entries at 16.226.  Chad Kinder would win Hypercoil Springs heat one, while Joey Kramer won Wiles Driveshafts heat two.  Derek Groomer would take VP Racing Fuels heat three and Michael England would score Comp Cams heat four.  Earl Plessinger would win Racing Head Service B-Main #1, while Matt Hamilton would take the victory in Comp Cams B-Main #2.

The next scheduled event for the American Modified Series will be on Saturday July 30 at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY for the 11th Annual Bluegrass Rumble.  The event will pay $1,500 to win.
