CONCORD, NC — Oct 27, 2017 — The largest division on the property for the OneDirt World Short Track Championship at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway Friday night was the Fox Shox Pro Late Models with 66 drivers ultimately forming six heat races. The top three from each heat race secured their positions in the first nine rows of Saturday night’s 30-lap Championship Feature.
The first four heats had flag-to-flag triumphs by Brett Hamm, Max Blair, Max McLaughlin and Matt Long. The final two heats for the Fox Shox Pro Late Model division saw two drivers charge from fifth-place starting spots to claim the checkers: Jonathan Davenport and Kyle Bronson.
Hamm, Blair, McLaughlin and Long were untouchable in their heat races, and rightfully so, as they were also the top four fastest cars during qualifying earlier in the evening. Hamm claimed quick time and was the only driver to break the 16.8-second barrier.
While the first 18 positions are set for Saturday’s feature finale, six additional drivers will join the action from three Last Chance Showdowns which will begin Saturday at 3:00 pm.
