Bonuses Abound As Solid Pro Stock Series Swings Into September

Weedsport, NYSeptember 9, 2009 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director

The 2009 Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Championship Series picks up pace with a second straight doubleheader highlighting the post-Labor Day parade. Tour activity resumes this weekend when Autodrome Edelweiss hosts round five on Friday, Sept. 11, followed up the next day by a return to Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York’s Capital District on Sept. 12.

Second in total purse only to Super DIRT Week’s full-fender finale in October, top Pro Stock point chasers will be after the $1,500 first-place prize posted by promoter Serge Lagace in Edelweiss’ 100-lapper. Another $1,000 is on the line in the 30-lap main event scheduled Saturday at the West Lebanon layout.

Track regular Denis Gauvreau outlasted three-time reigning Mr. DIRTcar points king Pete Stefanski to claim last year’s title event at the Quebec oval while Rob Yetman took top honors the last time the tour visited the high banks in 2005.

Rolling Wheels Raceway Park hosts the final Pro Stock series stop of the month on Sept. 26 as the Sept. 19 event at Canandaigua Speedway has been replaced with a brand new date at Brockville Ontario Speedway on October 18. The ‘DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals at the BOS’ includes a big 50-lap series finale on Sunday that stands to determine the overall 2009 Mr. DIRTcar Champion.

The month of October kicks off with the annual trip to the Syracuse Mile for the 38th running of Super DIRT Week, this year scheduled for Oct. 7-11 at the New York State Fairgrounds. A Pro Stock ‘Futures’ race is slated for Friday, Oct. 9 and time trials run Saturday, with a consolation round leading into Sunday’s 25-lap SDW XXXVIII Championship.

“A lot of enthusiasm has filtered down through the ranks this season,” beamed Pro Stock Series Director Brian Mulligan, now in his second full season guiding DIRTcar Northeast’s top full-fender touring division. “More activity has generated more excitement. Instead of our established teams wondering if the class will be around, the interest keeps growing and I continue to receive calls from guys asking how they can get involved. Some have already purchased new cars.”

Mulligan helped fan the flame during the off-season, first lining up an exclusive ‘National Parts Peddler Halfway Bonus’ leader award at each series show, then creating a special season-ending drawing that will reward a handful of drivers from those attending 100% of the events.

Mulligan worked closely with Corky Stockham to initiate a program that rewards every series race halfway leader with a $100 certificate that can be presented to any participating vendor for an equivalent discount at the 30th National Parts Peddler Trade Show & Auction, Nov. 20-22, at the New York State Fairgrounds.

And joined by recognized EMS (Eric’s Machine Shop) chassis builder and body dealer Eric Marin, the seasoned public relations/marking specialist from Cornwall, Ontario also formulated a special package that will reward four drivers that attend every 2009 series event. The names of all those eligible drivers will be thrown into a hat at the Brockville finale in October, with one drawn to receive a Five Star Body and three more selected to win $100 product certificates from Allstar Performance.

Two-time ’09 tour winners Pete Stefanski and Joey Ladouceur pace the current Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock point standings just shy of the midway point, with Jody Swamp and Ghislain Valade joining Ladouceur (twice) as recipients of NPPN Halfway Bonus awards through the first four events. Stefanski and Ladouceur also head the list of exactly a dozen drivers who have signed in for those initial four series shows that are in contention for the ‘perfect attendance’ prizes at the end of the season.
