DIRTcar Northeast Circuit Jammed With Series Specials In July

Weedsport, NYJune 30, 2009 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director

The Fourth of July holiday traditionally marks the halfway point of the season on the DIRTcar Racing Northeast circuit. For teams competing in the four premier 2009 Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series, the first full month of summer means they’ve only just begun with 17 special events on the docket.

Eight extra-distance races for the Big-Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series dominate July while a half-dozen more tour shows add to the agenda for Sportsman teams. A pair of Pro Stock events is also listed and the lone 358-Modified Series stop closes out the month at Ransomville Speedway on July 31.

The mighty Mod Squad kicks off the action with back-to-back Super DIRTcar Series shows at Ransomville on July 3 and Fulton Speedway on July 4, then follows up the next week July 9-12 with a gruelling test of 400 feature laps at Brockville, Granby, Drummond and Cornwall in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec that comprises the 2nd Annual ‘Great Canadian Tour’ north of the border. Top traveling teams continue the adventure south for the highly anticipated inaugural DIRTcar All-Star Weekend, July 17-19, highlighted by the historic $20,000-to-win All-Star 100 which ranks as the richest short-track Modified event in the nation.

History is also in the making July 2-5 as the first-ever four-race swing for Sportsman includes consecutive nights at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park and Brewerton Speedway in the states, followed north of the border by successive shows at Brockville Ontario Speedway and Cornwall Motor Speedway to wrap up the ‘Fourth of July’ holiday weekend. Charter member DIRTcar tracks Cayuga County (July 18) and Canandaigua (July 21) complete the upcoming six-race summer sweep for open-wheel contenders.

The ‘09 Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Series opener continues the big Independence Day celebration at Genesee Speedway on July 4 while Mohawk Int’l Raceway follows up two weeks later with an extended 50-lapper now paying $1,500-to-win staged at the completely refurbished Hogansburg, New York hangout.

Overall Mr. DIRTcar Champions will once again be determined by tabulating points earned in the Super DIRTcar Series for Big-Block Modifieds and the Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series for 358-Modified, Sportsman and Pro Stock teams along with bonuses collected in each divisional DIRTcar Regional Racing Series.
