Hot August Nights Set Stage For Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series

The 2009 Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series begins its stretch run for teams contending for the elusive overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels titles in Big-Block Modified, 358-Modified, Sportsman and Pro Stock classes.

A half-dozen shows highlight the month of August for Big-Block Super DIRTcar Series point chasers on both sides of the border, with Pro Stockers getting back on track in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. 358-Modified and Sportsman Series travelers have the month open to prepare for their upcoming autumn assault.

Merrittville (Ont.) Speedway leads off the agenda with the 17th Trevor Wilkens Memorial on Monday, August 3 before returning stateside for back-to-back Super Series shootouts at Brewerton Speedway and Canandaigua Speedway, Aug. 7-8.

Can-Am Motorsports Park hosts the premier Big-Block tour in the Northeast on Friday, August 21 before Cornwall Motor Speedway runs Aug. 23 (rescheduled from July 12) and Lebanon Valley Speedway stages its second Series special of the season on Aug. 27 in the final 100-lapper of the month.

The region’s top Pro Stock chauffeurs make their second annual appearance at Autodrome Drummond on Saturday, August 22 before joining their open-wheel counterparts at Cornwall on Aug. 23 to complete the big DIRTcar doubleheader.

Overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Champions will be determined by tabulating points earned in the Super DIRTcar Series for Big-Block Modifieds and the Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series for 358-Modified, Sportsman and Pro Stock teams along with bonuses collected in each divisional DIRTcar Regional Racing Series.
