Yetman Regains Series Stature With Valley Victory!

For the second straight year it was a hometown driver taking victory in the Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Championship Series race at Lebanon Valley Speedway. Rob Yetman dominated the Saturday night event leading all 30 laps in recording his fourth series win at the Speedway.

“It’s awesome to win this race, it certainly isn’t my first time to victory lane here and we know how to get around this track and drawing the pole for the race didn’t hurt either,” an excited Yetman stated. It was the 38th career victory for the Castleton, NY driver, which is a record at the speedway.

Yetman and Ricky Thompson led a full field of 30 Pro Stocks to the green flag with Yetman grabbing the lead early while the rest of the pack battled it out behind him. The first caution flag flew on lap six for 2009 Lebanon Valley champion, Robbie Speed, as he slowed on the track with electrical issues.

Things got real hairy on the restart as Thompson failed to fire and the restart was called off. As a result of the no-start situation several cars towards the back of the pack collided in turn one. Defending Series Champ Pete Stefanski used several early restarts to move into third by lap seven.

Louie Jackson came into this event as the Series points leader but things did not go well for him. He started ninth and was battling for fifth early in the race but he and P.J. Peters made contact on the front stretch on lap 19 sending Peters spinning in turn one. As Jackson went into turn two he spun as well and went pit side. He didn’t return and finished 25th.

At the halfway point of the event it was Yetman with almost a full straightaway lead over new second-place runner Stefanski. Joey Ladouceur made a late race charge to get up to sixth. Stefanski had one last chance with the Jackson incident but there was no stopping Yetman on this night as he easily took the victory almost six and a half seconds ahead of Stefanski.

“I saw the nose of Pete’s car under yellow and I knew he would race me clean, its really great to race against the tour guys, they really have their act together,” Yetman added.

Thompson had a see-saw run end with a fine third place finish with 2010 Lebanon Valley Champion Jay Corbin finishing fourth and Chad Jeseo rounding out the top-five.

Full-fender Mr. DIRTcar title contenders have two more extra-distance events in September, including the recent addition of a second Series show at Mohawk Int’l Raceway on Sept. 18. Rolling Wheels Raceway Park (Sept. 25) closes out the month before teams set their sights on Super DIRT Week in October.
