Second night of South of the Border Showdown canceled due to poor weather

Unfavorable weather in Nichols, SC has forced DIRTcar and Lake View Motor Speedway officials to cancel Friday’s portion of the South of the Border Showdown for the DIRTcar Sportsman. The event will not be made up.

Racing will resume Saturday, Feb. 5, for the $3,000-to-win, 50-lap finale with new start times. Practice will now take place at 4pm (ET) and racing is scheduled to start at 5pm.

Jr. Mini Sprints will be added to Saturday’s program, which along with the DIRTcar Sportsman also features Stock V8 cars and double features for the Vintage class.

Opening night of the second annual South of the Border Showdown at Lake View kicked off Thursday night with an epic 25-lap DIRTcar Sportsman Feature. Brothers Andrew Buff and Justin Buff dueled for the win in the closing laps with Andrew besting his younger brother for the win – his second consecutive victory at the track.

Thirty-four of the best Sportsman Modified drivers in the country filled the pits that night and will return Saturday to thrill fans again.
