Weedsport, NTJune 26, 2009 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director

The Independence Day special at Canandaigua Speedway has become even more festive falling on the Fourth of July, with both DIRTcar Sportsman and DIRTcar Street Stocks celebrating on Saturday by sharing in a pair of $3,000 purses posted for their Mid-Season Championship runs.

The DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds will not be in competition at Canandaigua on the July 4 in lieu of the Super DIRTcar Series show slated for Fulton Speedway, yet adding to the holiday card at the Ontario County Fairgrounds oval will be the Pure Stox along with a special appearance by the NY Modified Midgets and a gigantic fireworks display to bring the curtain down.

A top prize of $1,000 awaits the winner of the Parts Plus Big Six Street Stock Series showdown that allows invaders to follow their own home track rule book. Track points will still be awarded although all entries will draw for heat race starting positions while a re-draw will determine front row assignments for the 30-lap main event.

Race day bonuses presented by the Parts Plus Store in Macedon, New York include a case of oil to the top-three finishing non-Canandaigua cars with an additional $100 in cash collected by the first non-Canandaigua regular. MJ’s Treasure & Bargains has posted a $100 Halfway Leader Bonus (Lap 15) and $50 Hard Charger Award. With Black Rock Speedway staging its own DIRTcar Street Stock special on July 2, any driver able to capture both features will pocket an extra $500 on Saturday.

Top area Sportsman contenders will also enjoy an increased purse from top to bottom at Canandaigua, with the $760 winner’s share symbolic of the year 1776 when the United States of America officially began its nationhood. The 30-lap finale will offer 60 points to all drivers signed in, and a ‘Last Man Standing Race’ will bolster the pot further in the division’s second cash dash of the season.

Adding to Canandaigua’s holiday happening, the Spazman Spins DJ Service ‘Wheel of Fortune’ bonus has been increased from $25 to $75 in both classes and MJ’s Treasure & Bargains has put up $50 for a second spin of the wheel for Street Stockers to cap off a lucrative night of racing at the popular Routes 5 & 20 speedplant.
