2008 Super DIRTweek XXXVIIWeedsport, NYOctober 1, 2008 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing NorthEast PR Director

During Super DIRT Week XXXVII at the New York State Fairgrounds, American Traditions Motorsports makes a grand sponsorship debut by awarding the Rite Aid 200 pole-winner with a $2,500 cash prize while TEO Pro Car continues its Salt City support by posting a $1,500 award for the outside front row starting spot in the 2008 edition of the Northeast’s richest DIRT track event, October 7-12.

Three of the past five years track record-holder Billy Decker has emerged as the fastest time trialer, however it was Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series points chaser Jimmy Phelps who earned the prestigious Dick “Toby” Tobias Memorial Pole Award trophy last autumn. Phelps stopped the clocks at 28.365 seconds (126.917 mph) on opening day one year ago while Decker posted a time of 28.348 sec. (126.993 mph) in 2004 to set the standard during Big-Block qualifying.

At American Traditions Motorsports, the mission is to remember the tragedy of September 11, 2001 involving more than 5,000 victims. To remember is to honor. To honor is to renew. We are so very proud to be representing the men and women who are fighting to preserve our freedom with our 9-11 tribute cars. ATM strives to promote safety, excellence in performance, teamwork, kindness, and consideration to the communities we are guests in, youth participation in our sport, and above all uphold our patriotic spirit. Racing is our tribute to America’s endless capacity for healing, unity, and renewal. For more information about the ATM team, please call Dean Patterson at 1-866-286-5475 or visit www.shopatmusa.com on-line.

TEO Pro, a long-time DIRTcar racing supporter from New Jersey, has posted $1,500 to the winner of the outside pole in the Big-Block Modified division. Current overall Hoosier Tire Mr. DIRTcar Modified points leader Decker (28.615 sec./125.808 mph) joined Phelps on the front row to start last year’s 200-mile main event.

Younger brother to all-time Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series winner Brett Hearn, Bobby Hearn officially launched Teo Pro Car in 1988. Brett vaulted Bobby over the top when he won the first Rite Aid 300 for Teo in October of ‘95. Teo Pro Car is located today at 95 Maple Grange Road, Vernon, New Jersey with directions available by logging into www.teopro.com. For further information contact 973/764-5500.

Despite Phelps leading the initial 54 circuits, the premium starting positions failed to help the cause for either driver as the ‘B-Ville Blizzard’ finished 7th while four-time race winner Decker placed 39th after engine failure sidelined him with only 74 laps complete. Vic Coffey started 14th and held off Tim Fuller to capture his second Rite Aid 200 checkered flag.
